hey all....noobie to this forum, I have a 01 pathy....and this code came up (read at Autozone)....I know it's a low catalyst efficiency on bank 1... the question I have is this; my wife has been driving it this way for a couple of weeks and today, it just shut off. the only thing that changed is the type of gas we were using. Before this light came on, I was running off brand gas, whatever was closest, then I had the wife switch to shell gas to see if we could get a few more MPG's.. after a week or two of this, the light showed up. I wasn't getting the results from the shell gas, so I had her switch back a week or so ago... been through a few tanks of whatever gas she was close to, and the light shuts off... any thoughts on this anyone?????

now, I got the ECM flashed.... at 180 bucks... bastards... light went out for about 5 days.. back on and now shows a po140... bank 1 sensor 2.. looked it up on the manuals that I downloaded from a link in this forum.. and ordered the sensor from another link I got from this forum....got under the pathy today... found the sensor, unscrewed it w/o any probs... then couldn't find the wire plug end on the upper portion of the motor.

What the heck, I did all this work, and now I can't locate where to plug this thing in.. I can't see from the bottom looking up to where the wire terminates, and I can't see from the top where it terminates.. I took off the plastic engine cover and still couldn't locate it... any help on this??thanks

passenger... right side.... However, I think I have this worked out.... I have to take off the cover, undo the plug bracket right on top to get the sensor wire loose (zip-tied) to another bracket on the back of the motor right next to the firewall....

I see another sensor right down the passenger side of the motor and while I'm not showing a code for it, how do you get it out of the exhaust? It looks like there are some heat shields screwed on around the manifold and I can't see the nut for that sensor because of those shields.... cut the wire and use a socket??? then how do you replace and torque the new one appropriately?thanks for the reply....

yea the 1st set of o2's are a royal pain, however it seems like they last longer than the 2nd set. havent heard much problem of anyone on here having to replace the pre cat sensors, but yea looking at them, it looks like a pain in the butt. i might pay to get those done if the need ever arises. the o2 wires do come up between the motor and firewall, easiest way to see what plug to undo is look at the new one, the plugs under the plastic cover are different colors, red, green, gray, etc.
