SES light stays on help

Ive had this problem with my nissan maxima 2003. SES stays on. I had it checked at the dealer around a year and a half ago and they said the code that came up was it was the gas cap. They reset the code and sent me home. It came back on a few days later so i called them and they said I might want to get a new gas cap and it would go off. Tried that and it never went off. Brought it to the local Auto Zone cause I didnt want to pay nissan again and they said the same thing you need a new gas cap. No I or my wife dont leave the car running when getting gas so It wasnt that. few months later it went off for no reason for about a month then came back on. Had it checked at 2 different places and they both reset it and said it's the gas cap. the light kept coming on. A friend replaced the evap valve thinking it was that but the light came on 2 days later and has been on ever since. The problem is I need to get the car inspected and I have this light on. Plus I want to know what the real problem is? Any help would be great Thanks

First off, welcome aboard!

Secondly, I'll take a stab and the experts can chime in later.... Take your car back to the dealer. Before doing so, brush up on the Federal Emissions Warranty that covers newer cars. I believe it is 7 years or 75k miles, which ever comes first, but don't quote me on the terms. Tell the service manager what the car has been through and your beliefs that this may be a warranty covered repair (if it meets the criteria of course).

SES is so annoying. Mine came on about a week ago and I went to a Maxima meet and during the drive it turned off. Did the same thing before my last meet as well. So weird
