Hi there,

I own a 2001 Infiniti QX4 and the SES light has come on, I ordered a OBDII scanner and after scanning it listed no codes coming up. I tried to reset the SES light and it did turn it off, now the SES has come back on again but still wont read a code.

Any suggestions? I am using an autel gs300 OBDII scanner if this helps any

Thanks!

Have you tried taking it to the dealership or autozone (or similar parts store) to have them check the codes? Perhaps there's an issue with the code scanner you're using.

Here's an update, I went to my local mechanic to see if he could run a quick test using his scanner, and he said that even his snap-on OBD II scanner is locked out of a lot of Infiniti and newer Chrysler models to be read. Something along the lines of the data being too fast for the scanner to pickup?

But anyway, I went down to another part store today and got them to scan it and came up with p0171, so i'll try and clean the MAF and see if it makes a difference.

By the way, Im curious as to what scanners Infiniti QX4 owners use on their vehicles to pull codes from, Thanks!

I have had a 2001 Pathfinder LE for two and a half years. 80,000 miles. this summer the SES light came on, the truck lost power, I was stranded. Had a shop charge me mucho to put in a refurb NAPA-branded MAF sensor. Truck was fine. Next week the truck lost power and died, stranding me again. Yep, time for a Nissan dealer to put in a new factory MAF sensor. Truck runs fine, but SES light came back on within two days and won't go off.

Dealer says "don't worry about it". One guy says "don't use silicone based air cleaners". Another guy says "screw your gas cap on tighter". Another guy says use 93 octane (tried and didn't work). Another guy says it might be a transmission leak. Another guy says O2 sensors.

I find posts on this topic all over the net. Right now I just want to know how to turn off th SES light!!!!
