I am really struggling with my dealership and have been there 3 times in 2 months because the SES light continues to come on. The first time it was a P0430 code and the ECU was reprogrammed ($210). On that first visit I asked that the sensors be inspected because a local mechanic had indicated that may be the problem. I was told by the dealer it was a computer reprogramming issues. Three weeks later the light again came on with a P0158 which meant replacing an oxygen sensor...ironic and another $300. Now the light is on again and the reading is a P1145.I really think this is not normal although the dealer continues to say the problems are not related. Are they? I find it hard to believe it is normal that the light has come on 3 times in 2 months. I really don't have the time or money to keep taking it in over and over. Any suggestions?

Do you have a good scan tool of your own? If you have something like the Gynisis (sp? sorry) or the Snap-On, you can monitor the activity of some of your engine componants. The scan tools can be useful considering they can also perform their own tests (passive, active, intrusive) to check actuators, fuel trim, O/L or C/L etc... If you dont have the time/money/will to check it out yourself mabye you should find a trusted local shop and talk to them. If I could be of anymore advice just e-mail me @ [email protected] and ill try to figure something out. Couldnt have a fellow nissan owner broke on the side of the road now can i?

thats funny that you had specifically asked to have the sensors checked and then one went out on you shortly thereafter. i dont have a fsm in front of me. what is a p1145?

scan tools arnt too cheap, i know the genesis that we use is like 2k or so. they are very helpful though...

hopefully this will have fixed your problem with the SES light, the only thing that i could think of is that one sensor went bad and threw some others off with its effects.

1145 is a very common failure, it is for the VTC sensor or solonoid hard to tell which one failed there is a post on that code in pathfinder technical forum. I pretty much layed out what can cause that code.

Now none of the three codes are related. But all three codes are pretty common on the pathfinder. The O2 sensor code you got recently would have required a reprogram to but you likley got the most current program when the 420 cat code was repaired.

I appreciate the feedback. Seems like I am stuck with another trip to the dealer. I understand that these are common codes on the Pathfinder it is just odd that they have all happened within 2 months of each other. I still feel the dealer did not take me seriously on my first trip when I expressed concern for the sensors and then had to have one replaced a few weeks later. From reading other posts because with the 1145 the light comes on immediately when the car is started it leads to the sensor in the VTC rather than the solonoid. We will see what they have to say... I hope this is the end of my SES light for a while!

no dont missunderstand my post in that thread. What i was reffering to is if your erase the code, the light turns off. then when you turn the key to the on poistion and start the car without driving it and the light comes on it is the sensor.

but if the light was already set on a prior trip and you cycle the key to on ,the code was stored and the light will come on everytime the key is cycled to the on position untill the code is cleared. does that make sence?

I had taken it to a local mechanic who could read the code and when they tried to reset it the light came right back on and they said it is obviously a hard code because when they try to clear it the light comes back on. So that does sound like a sensor correct?

thats correct now if it didnt come back on till you were driving with a steady light acceleration then that would indicate a possible solonoid faliure.
