It's a bit vague from your description but I have an idea of what you can do to fix this. What you need to do is remove the combination meter and tighten the ground on the interior bulkhead. There is also another common ground that should be retightened behind the glove box. If you need details on how to remove these things let me know and I'll get you some pictures and directions. It is not very difficult and requires a 10mm deep 3/8 socket a 12" extension ratchet and a phillips screwdriver.
