has anyone changed their fluids for the 30,000 mile schedule? checked my manual and it said that the cvt and differential and transfercase fluids have to be changed for awd models. It doesnt say how much fluid the differential and transfercase takes. went under the vehicle and I could see two plugs on the back of the differential one above the other that have a allen wrench hole. Im thinking the lower plug is the drain and the other is the fill. and they probably fill it up to this fill plug. does anyone know for sure? The transfer case has the same two plugs. Also for the cvt transmission, it says only use nissan cvt fluid only, is there a alternative out there? If not would nissan sell the fluid to you.

I believe you only change those fluids if you use your car for towing.

Nissan CVT fluid is the only one available and can only be purchased from the dealer. There are no substitutions here. It's very expensive fluid at $20qt and the Rogue requires 7.5 qt (FWD) or 8.5 qt (AWD).

IMHO, leave CVT service and fluid changes to the dealership. The transmission computer actually keeps track to the fluid usage/condition and tells the tech when and if the fluid needs changing. The fluid changes do not need to be done very often... unlike older automatic transmissions.

does a light go off on the dashboard when the transmission fluid has to be changed or do you have to ask the dealer to hook it up to the computer to tell?

There is no light. The dealer has to connect their scan tool and read the information.
