Ok..... can anyone help me with this one. I have a 2007 Versa S with Auto and power options. I have had it since November and now have 2,300 miles.

Here's the problem.... The light came on. Service Engine Soon.

I checked the gas cap, oil, and engine compartment for any other caps that may have come loose. Nothing. I am not sure if the Versa gets an idiot light to light up when it's time to change the oil, but I'm not really sure what to look for next.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Go to the dealer buddy thats what the warranty is for.nothing to worry about.the gas cap was a good thought though alotta people dont know about that.

And there is no light for the oil change.

My light came on but went off before I went to the dealer (twice). Both times happened in really heavy downpours, but both times, the light went off before I took it in.

I had the same thing happen to me. According to the manual and the service staff, the most likely cause of the SES light to come on is not closing the gas cap all the way, or some sort of transient emissions problem. Ours came on for no apparent reason, as we were between fillups, so I dropped into the dealership and they reset it. The service person told me that there is no problem driving around with the warning lit up - so long as it is not flashing, and that it resets after several (many?) driving cycles. Apparently we had not waited long enough for it to reset. If the light is flashing, they say you should pull over right away and have it towed.

Make sure the dealership reads the code when you take it in. Make them give you the code. That way you can double-check it to make sure they're not resetting a light that may actually be tied to a failure like a MAF or O2 sensor failure.

Might be the o2 sensor, had mine replaced already, and that was at about 3500 miles.

A few weeks back I had my light flash on me twice. Once was after heavy acceleration and the other time I was climbing a hill with the A/C on. The car was well loaded with Christmas gifts. The light flashed sporadically for about 10 secs each time. I haven't seen the light since, even under heavy acceleration.
