Hello everyone. I am new here, first timer, name is Peter and I am in Coventry, Rhode Island. I have a 2003 Maxima with 40,000 miles, bought it new, no real problems. Had to replace the rear brakes and rotors at 24,000 miles and just did the front brakes and a new set of tires.Had all the routine maintenance done on this Maxima dnd it is still Cherry, The wife's chariot. Now the Service Engine Soon light came on about a week ago. Car still runs like a champ, new air filter, cabin air filter, oil & filter change, and light is still on. I tried the "step on the accelerator pedal" procedure several times with no results: No Blinking, no codes, etc; light just stays on. I took one royal screwing from the local Nissan dealer and the "factory rep or Customer Service Rep as she preferred to be called) over the first brake problem and do not want to take it to them for another fleecing. Can you or does anyone else have any suggestions to help me out. Sure would appreciate it. Thanks,

If you have a SES light then you have a code. Take it to a auto place and have the codes read, then post the code here.

Probably O2 sensors

Thanks for your help. I took the Maxima to the local AUTOZONE and they checked the code for me, and turned off the SES light. I did a very stupid thing, and filled the gas tank with the engine running. The temperature was in the high 90's and I left the car running so the passengers would enjoy the air conditioning, while I filled the tank. Dumb thing to do and the manager at the AUTOZONE was very willing to remind me of that. Thanks for the help. I learned a good lesson here
