Hi, I recently purchased a 2002 Nissan Xterra. Its a wonderful truck but has small problems. I noticed that there was a noise coming from the front end by the passenger side, I believe this is an exhaust leak from the engine. The "service engine soon" light also came on and I got 3 codes. P0328, P0442,P0445. I read something about the knock sensor being one of them, but it could be something else other then the knock sensor which is making the code appear. Im not sure if theres a price range for a fix, But id like to get that exhaust leak by the engine checked out. Ill probly take it to a mechanic and get an estimate. But Just wanted to hear info from people on the site. Thanks alot...... Steve

I guess these trucks have issues with knock sensors. Here's a thread about them. It's the sticky from the top of this forum list : ) zerothread/260968

yeah... up on that sticky thread about the knock sensors... the exhaust leak is usually a quick fix for any shop... just find the one with the cheapest lift charge

Not a fun thing to replace due to the amount of disassembly required (assuming it's a V6). Lots of labor.

I took it to a mechanic and he said it was a crack in the manifold. he had just repaired the same thing on the same exact vehicle not long ago, so he'll give me the same price of 350-400$. Also he said the noise coming from that is what is most likely setting off the knock sensor. I HOPE!
