Hey guys, I have a question. My Service Engine Soon lights went of on but my Murano 09 is only 26k,
1) What should I be aware about when I get it check?
2) Should I bring it to the dealership so they can calibrate the warnings etc etc or bring it to others like pep boys, etc etc..

Thanks everyone

The majority of the time with a newer Nissan like yours the problem is the gas cap not sealed properly, most likely after last fill it was not "clicked" enough, you need to tighten it until it clicks at least 3 times otherwise the code your dealership will discover is "fuel system air pressure" because the gas cap didn't lock and seal properly. If your vehicle does not have any noticable problems with drivability, ideling etc, I'd guess that this is your problem.

Tighten up the gas cap several "clicks", then you'll have to drive up to several days for the code to clear (i.e. the check engine light will go out after a few days, I can't explain why it takes so long for the code to clear but this is based on experience on the Rogue and Murano forum, this is a VERY common situation).

Early in the life of my 04 SE I had a random (DTC P2135 - throttle position sensor) code pop up. Using the accelerator method from the FSM, I read the code out and then cleared it. It never returned. In 5 1/2 years and 77K miles, that has been the only time (knock on wood, of course) my MIL has come on.

Sometimes something fluky will trigger the SES light and clearing it is all you need to do. If it keeps returning, then you know you really have a problem.
