service engine light on: maxima 2001GLE

I have a small problem with my maxima and hope someone can help. I scanned the system and got code P0440 - EVAP Control System Small Leak. Now where would this leak be.

not positive but wouldn't that one be the loose gas cap? i'll look around later and let you know what i found out.

first 3 reasons that come up are about the gas cap. make sure there's nothing caught in there, the seal if it has one is in good condition and make sure it's on tight.

Yeah, that one's likely a bad gas cap seal.

wow! don't get too hasty with that, most of the time it's just not tight. so retighten the cap till it's clicking when turning, clear the code if doesn't clear on it's own and then if it comes back get a new one...i hope you read this before getting that new cap

I had the same problem with my gas cap but in order to clear the code you need to take the cap off then put it back on and retighten. It happened a few times and just tightining it didn't work it and it allways took a few days before the cel goes off.
