Hello All,

My wife has a 2003 2.5 Altima and we haven't had mush trouble with it at all, 3 weeks ago the "check engine lamp" came on so I got a code reader to pull the DTC. P0507 so I looked at the data and nothing seems out of line. I asked the wife if the car varied the idle speed, she said it has run great. So I cleared the code and I drove it for the last 2 weeks, light came back on, the car never missed a lick. Same DTC P0507, has anyone else had or seen this problem, please give me some advise.

Thanks in Advance

YES! I have a 2003 2.5S and i have the same problem. I have no idea how to fix it. My car is idling fine and i brought my car to get all the recalls fixed. I keep turing the Serivce Engine Light off with the pedal trick but it just comes back on in a couple of day every time. If you find out what's wrong please let me know.

try swapping out your bottom 02 sensor. the pre-cat on this car gets too hot and blows out the sensor. i would also suggest getting an after market header without a pre-cat if your finances allow it or sooner or later you will blow a head gasket. the sensor should be about $100. you can change out the 02 sensor yourself with a 22 wrench.

I changed out the bottom O2 sensor like you suggested...but it didn't work. I was wondering if i can put my old bottom 02 sensor in place of the top 02 sensor near the headers?...because the top one is all purple and looks like the one giving me the air idle trouble code. I also changed my exhaust to a dual on a 2003 2.5S, could that be the problem with not enough 02 sensors?

try taking it to autozone or something and get the cpu read. the top o2 sensor could be it but from what i've seen, it's normally the bottom one.

i don't think not enough sensors would be the problem. the headers i got had like an "insert" that screwed in between the pipes and the sensor. the insert insulates the sensor more and doesn't let it get as hot, which in turn saves the sensor and shuts off the light. that could be another option... if you could find a spacer like that.

i really don't think so. the 2 are different prices and the plugs i believe are different which lead me to believe they serve totally different purposes. to make the light go off you need both anyway. for a while, i ran them disconnected at the plug and actually got better gas mileage. the light obviously didn't go off but the car did seem to run better. i would say, if you're not trying to get rid of the car... don't worry about the light. you should know how your car normally runs and should be able to tell if there really is a problem without some light on your dash.p.s.- what is the pedal trick you mentioned?... very intriguing.
