As it states in the title, I got slapped by a hefty bill. This POS Rogue is costly and is a money pit. I don't understand why my folks is still keeping this POS in the fleet.

So thing is, while driving on the 408 here in Orlando FL, I got idiot lights on the dash. Said lights screamed FEB and LKAS has malfunctioned. Finally, this POS car has thrown codes. The following codes were pulled: C1B00 and C1B00-49, indicating internal LKAS camera failure. I had to pay a unreasoably high diag fee of $270. To replace this camera, Nissan wants $2,162.45 USD. If that insult was not enough, lemme list the upsell they tried to do, which in itself adds another $1000 to this high bill.
1) Trans service; Already done and taken care by my Honda dealer: Mfs wants $417.25
2) Brake Fluid: I'm almost due for this: $246.04 (also previously done at Honda).
3) CAF: $104.54, and almost half of this is just labor.
4) Fuel Induction Service (scam): $246.04

They aren't even precise with how much 1 hour of labor costs now. Like is it $152.00 or $153.70. Like which one is it.

Nissan stealerships clearly have their heads way up in their rears and not realize there aint no value with them.

Question for y'all: Can I DIY install this camera? If so, do I need to take it to the stealership for calibration or is that something that can be done at home as well?

Doubt you'll be able do the camera install yourself (will still need calibration).

Do your own brake fluid flush. Do your own cabin air filter.

Induction svc isn't a scam, but I wouldn't do it yet (hell, the car isn't likely to last long enough to make it worth the $).

I am somehow lucky and Nissan is finally backing up and standing by their products. Nissan is paying 50% of the repair bill. Appointment already scheduled and the Service Manager is crunching down the numbers to see how much I owe after Nissan pays their part.

On an almost 7 year old car?

My bet is they're gonna give you a discount on the silly overpriced work, soak you for a little more on the stuff you're apparently incapable of being bothered to do yourself, and give you a handwritten note that says, "Your 10% of value comparison is irrelevant, don't come back."

50% off when they’re charging over twice as much as any other dealership? I have no clue what a fuel induction service is? @110k on my 18 I haven’t done it nor would I. A cvt service at my dealer is $199, a brake fluid flush is $99 and a cabin filter from advance is $15 and takes 15 minutes. My dealer did a brake fluid flush and messed it up. I lost half my pedal and have never been able to recover it all the way. Maybe Vstar can help me out with that one? A cvt service is as simple as an oil change and can be done for under $50. My 18 has been one of the most reliable cars we’ve ever owned. No rust, no body rattles and an absolute tank. I’ve had wheel bearings in waiting and still don’t need them. A cvt service once a year along with oil and filters has been the extent of my maintenance program.

In fact, my rogue has been to the east coast three times and Florida twice since the first of the year. My son was using it but he left for the navy, so now it’s my 3rd car again. I find myself using it for work more than our 21 and 24 Altimas. The fuel mileage isn’t as good, but it has more room and with more sidewalls, rides much softer. I seriously considered a new platinum with Nissans current 0% interest but can’t bring myself to have that rattlebox 1.5 and deal with a plastic oil pan. Don’t even get me started on stop start.

My bet would be that they let the tank empty out and now there's air trapped in the ABS' internal reservoir. That can be impossible to get out without using the actuators. You need a scanner with ABS work support, crack the outlet fittings one by one and turn on the corresponding actuator. My guess is you'll get bubbles from at least one of them.

I think that’s what happened vstar. By outlet fittings you mean bleeder screws? Looks like ancel makes a tool that will force air out of the abs module and it’s priced decently. I can also use it on her 24 SL to realease the parking brake when the times comes. I also heard that locking the brakes up on a gravel road will move the air out as well?

No, I mean the fittings where the lines to the wheels egress the ABS. You can't purge that stuff down the tubes -- well, maybe you could, but it would be a big waste of time and brake fluid.

I've heard that about locking up on gravel, but I have no idea if or how well it actually works. It should definitely force the ABS to work all four actuators, but you'll still need to bleed the lines afterward because the freed air has noplace else to go. To my thinking, tripping the actuators electronically and cracking the lines at the ABS is a lot easier.

Just an fyi vstar. While I don’t recommend this, I had the space to do it. We had a 1/2” of rain last night and I own a few acres. This morning I got up to 35 in the back corner of my yard, not lawn and locked them up 3 times.no wear and tear, just simulated a snow stop. Abs fully engaged all 3 times for at least 10 yds. Brakes are as tight as can be. Saved me from a brake fluid nightmare. I still may use the scantool to do a complete bleed. But, it did work. I just drove 250 miles to Cleveland and was amazed at how the pedal feels. Where the air is at? No clue. Maybe it just leaked out of the reservoir cap.

Very cool. I'll add that to the "useful tricks" collection.

If I hadn’t done it, I would have believed it. I’ve got new pads and rotors on (advics) and between those breaking in and my sliding stops. I’m back to akebono factory feel. I’ve still got the day off tomorrow, a new scan tool and a quart of Bosch 5.1 to work into the system. If we had snow on the ground this would have been much easier!
