One thing that was said, when you see a veteran, or active duty personnel for that matter, shake their hand, tell them thank you and show them the utmost respect.

I have done this countless times and will continue to do so as long as I breathe. I have had people thank me for my service in the Navy, even though it was during peace time. It's a nice gesture and makes you feel good about your choice.

If you are the type of person that doesn't have anything nice to say to people who have served their country, say nothing and just walk away. "If you've nothing nice to say, best to say nothing at all."

Absolutely unbelievable. I just gained a new hero in my life for sure. And to think he was doing that with his wrist broken. Guy is seriously an icon of what an American should be.

AMEN, my Son amen!
For too long many in this great country of ours have not given those that have served or do serve the respect that they deserve and should get! Without the armed services doing and giving what they do, where would this country be? So it is time to pull our heads out of our dark sides of the moon and start to treat these PEOPLE right! Remember that they volunteered to do the job that we did not have the stones to do.
So THANK YOU:
ARMY
NAVY
MARINES
AIR FORCE
COAST GUARD.

To those that have not served, you should know, and I suspect this great man would agree, there are examples of this sort of dedication throughout not just the Corps, but all branches of the military. I would wager examples of selfless service and dedication can be found in all service professions like firefighters, police, teachers and even people who volunteer to help their community.

The news would have you think that character and pride is no longer amongst us and the vocal and attention-grabbing daily examples would appear to support this, but there are people who still take pride in what they do, appreciation of what others' do and display such levels of honor and respect that it causes you to reexamine your own deeds.

As we enter an election cycle you can expect the scumbag politicians to do their on cue pilgrimage to the side of our men and women in uniform. It's predictable and detestable and I urge you not to listen to any of them when they play that game. Our military is not a campaign tool, it is a solemn duty to our citizenry pursued by people with a certain something that just can't be quantified and they deserve better than to be handled by some self-serving stuffed shirt with a little flag pin on their Brooks Brothers suit.

Speaking for myself and I feel safe in asserting my brothers and sisters still in uniform and out who take on whatever mission they can to support their community, they don't do it to serve these bloviating disingenuous politicians, they do it for all of us. To know that we appreciate the daily and repeated sacrifices they endure to serve us is all they could ask for.

Still serving my Corps as a civilian, I can tell you these proud people are not invincible. They still suffer like the rest of us, but they would never let it show. If you have the time and the opportunity to get involved in any of the supporting organizations that help these brave people financially, medically, or emotionally I urge you to do so. You will never understand the incredible feeling of certainty that you are doing something that makes a difference when you have a soldier or their family thank you for what you have done to help them. You will experience what they feel every day serving us.

That SSgt is unreal. Standing at attention that long is hard enough... Let alone the salute. It's amazing he doesn't accidentally lock out his knees and pass out.
