Anyone have a HOW-To on a serpentine belt change. I have a 2003 Nissan Pathfinder, and just want to know how I can change the two belt.

Bastards have been squeeking like crazy now adays, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :werd:

It probably needs to be tightened, not replaced.

In either case, you do it from underneath.

Drop the cardboard skid pan.

There are two belts, not one, and each needs to be tightened. For each, there's a nut (or bolt) that locks it
in place, and a jack screw.

If it squeals on cold morning startup, it's probably the alternator side that needs tightening.

Above for a 2001, but I think your 2003 is the same.

Mine squealed for the first time I've ever heard it the other morning. It was "cold" (by Florida standards) and damp. Probably the result of condensation, but if it keeps squeaking I'll try tightening the belts.

Also, I think the engine undercover / splash guard / whatever you want to call it is fiberglass sandwiched by some other material. I dropped a bolt or something and fished in the splash guard's holes, and my finger got some fiberglass in it from the outer diameter of the hole.

So i looked underneath and tightened one of the two belts, other wouldnt budge.

Im thinking of just replacing the belt since I've got over 100k Miles on the truck.

Any idea how i can get the belt off, its the one attached to the fan?

If it wouldn't budge I suspect you didn't get the lock nut at the center of the idler pulley loose.

Removing the belt is just loosen the lock nut, then loosen the jack screw a lot, and the belt will come off.
In other words, the reverse of tightening the belt.
