whats going on guys. As the topic says i've been looking around for a while now and i'm very close on buying a s13 coupe.

I like the idea becuase it would be fun owning such light car with a engine such as rb25det. Now i have a few unanswered questions, regarding this engine.

I often see people comparing the rb25det to a last gen supra motor. Being a Inline 6 turbo and all and being buletproof just like the supra motor from factory. How true is this? How much power can this motor realisticly handle RWHP? Of course with all the suporting mods, like fuel system and computer manegment like stand alome AEM ecu. Without tearing the motor apart. How much do you benifit upgrading pistons,rods...etc On this engine. As i know supra guys put forged internals only when the buttom ends let go just to have the stuff a little stronger but factory stuff is already very strong. Also does rb engine have simular problems as the toyota with starving back cylenders with fuel. As with a supra if you want over 450rwhp you would have to upgrade the whole fuel system top to buttom, not just the injectors and fuel pump but fuel lines as well.

Last but no least the trans out of R33 how strong is that unit?

Thanks for the replys in advance.

^ Yeah it should be, but he needs to do some research on his own first...

I'll give my two cents. First the RB26 is the Godzilla motor that best compares with the 2JZ (4th gen Supra motor). The RB25 isnt a bad compromise, as it cost a good deal less, and only gives up 100cc in displacement.

Most RB26 to 240sx swaps use the RWD RB25 transmission. If it can handle these wild RB26s running around, I sure it can the power the RB25 can realistically produce.

The RB series are pretty tough, but upgrading the internals is always good insurance. WDRacing (a moderator) made 400+whp on a stock block RB20. I'd guess the RB25 could do 500whp pretty easily on a stock block.

I have heard on the Greddy intake manifold (a common upgrade) creating lean condition in the rear cylinders, but there are a few newer 'custom' manifolds that guys hae been using. AEM EMS has done wonderful things on the KA, so I'd bet it would very impressive on the RB motors. There are a few guys on here who are using it.

Check out the RB forums And I just found this post by searching,zerothread?id=71955

Welcome to NICO.Woohoo, another local guy too!

I'd swap the 2JZ in any day over an RB if I had the money. And I'm on my second RB. And I have a 95 TT 6Spd. So I can genuinely attest.

your choice, 2JZ lol is 1st pricy, 2nd what are you going to swap that into? I mean you can swap anything and everything but the question is would you want it to become a life long project. Toyota swaps suck let me put it to you this way, Nothing interchanges at all. I have been toying with an idea of swaping a 3sgte into my girls camry for a while now, it has been done but it aint no easy swap, motor mounts, hoses, axles, ecu....and the list goes on. Probably easier to put a small block in a s13. Anyway i havent decided yet what i'm gonna do rb25 or 26 is only a couple of grand more.

Do the 26 over the 25, it will cost more at first but you can make over 400whp with the stock turbos and fuel system on the 26.

You will need several thousand in parts to make 400whp on the RB25.

Just don't buy the R32 GTR motor unless you want to deal with the crank collar issue.
