Ok. I can't remember why, but I stumbled upon some G35 vs 350Z youtube videos and in just about every instance the G spanked the Z. Anyone care to elaborate on that?

The Z is lighter and usually has higher rated crank hp. So how are the Gs beating them at the track? Is it a traction thing?

For the record, I searched both "G35 vs 350z" and "350z vs G35" just to make sure the G owners weren't biased. I also tried to only compare drag races and not street/rolling fwy races.

well were both the vehicles stock? were the drivers decent drivers?

The competition between the G and the Z is pretty close... So any small error can cause either car to loose.

Post the link to these videos because I would like to seem 'em as well...

This one shows the Z winning by a few tenths, but it's interesting to see the G pull on the Z in the beginning.

This one looks like bad reaction time on the G driver, but he still wins by a few tenths:

Mostly likely boosted G, so not a real comparison:

Strange...I thought for sure there would be more vids of the Z laying into the G.

I was video watching a few weeks ago... only I was getting depressed because I was watching all the vids of our beloved G's getting spanked by 335's

Off the top of my head, I can't think of a modern turboed production car that won't spank the G. It's just life.

But, all of those cars are prone to breakage than the G. For one reason, the G is still N/A while those cars are forced induction.

I'm not seeing your point and frankly, your "conclusion" that the G is some sort of diesel workhorse that will last indefinitely with extreme beatings is not really qualified.

You have the latest Model Year G35 Coupe with low mileage. I wish we had some members that had tipped over the 100k mile mark.

I can't imagine how the G35 would win so easily over the Z. Being heavier than the Z I think it would be better at the take off. Then again, it could be like the VQ35DE vs. VQ35HR sure the HR has more hp on paper, but it's still not a big enough margin to make it a sure win. There are some pretty crappy drivers out there.

As for the 335i, one of my close friends has one. We actually raced once, he took me by a a fender's lenght. Not as bad as I've seen on some videos. Then again, he isn't the all that good at driving stick.

I can't wait to see those videos when I get home, my work blocks a lot of the fun websites. Luckily they havn't blocked NICO!

I will have to say that it can go either way, I was spanked by a 350Z, but I had my 20s on at the time.

I've seen countless G's put it down on the Z's... look at jeff woods. He can eat them for breakfast with only a fujita intake on his 07.

I think that the new 370Z is going to be a hard one to top, it has 332 hp, 270 torque, and a 1/4 mile time of 13.3 @ 106... around there anyway, this will surely stomp even the swiftest shifters in the G sport.

I think the best recorded trap from Motor trend was 13.9 in the G35 sport 6 sp sedan... Perhaps the G37 will offer more competition performance wise.

I emailed you . I'd suggest making a signature banner with your mods, then you can control the font and size.

Can anyone or dealership really work on your car anymore. You have almost transformed the car into something that Nissan may not even recognize. I feel like a loser with my list of mods after going through your list.

He called me about a grounding kit and I couldn't talk (no bluetooth with me) so I emailed him later that night and he hasn't responded.

Don't make me come up there, Sean. I'll leave yellow snow on your doorstep!

My guess would be the heavier G is easier to launch. So for the regular driver, launching the G fast is easier than launching the Z.The Z is lighter which would mean it would have more top end and pull the G in. But if the driver screws his launch trying to keep up with the G, then he'll fall too far behind and not be able to catch the Z.I can't watch the vid here at work, but thats the best I could come up with.Doesn't the G also have a softer suspension? A softer susp. would allow more weight transfer and squat in the rear, therefor a better launch.

The car still looks like a stockish car. The engine, drivetrain, and well, everything else i dont think i would even let anyone but me work on it. I mean i know this thin down to every bolt and wire now. If you want to know anything i am probobly the one to ask now a days....lol

my 04 G vs my friend 04 Z....

Z is quicker in almost any way we measure. I know it's not 1/4 Mile.... but it seems no matter what we do he spanks me so i dunno...

I think its 200lb + difference, soooo

edit: both are 6MT
