hello everybody

this is a pretty serious problem for me and i will make the story short so that if you want to help me you can i would really appreciate the input

my car wouldnt smog, it was in nissan for months, they determined the wrong cams were in the cars engine, s14 engine, s13 cams, and that they were two of the same kind, i.e. not one intake and exhaust

i managed to locate a spare engine and get the cams out and in my car

i checked multiple times that the angles were lined up correctly

but as any of you familliar with cams are, you can turn the whole cranke from the cams with about a 1" rench, which was the case before i took the cams out

i did this test to see if they would turn afte the install, but they did not

they are somehow "locked" or maybe not lubricated enough, so i put the head back on and filled it with oil

the engine is trying to turn over but again it seems that its not powerful to move the locked cams

can somebody shed some light onto this problem??

it would be greatly appreciated

Your cams arnt locked.. They are just mistimed and your valves are hitting the pistons from the sound of it. If you have tried to start the car you probably have some bent valves.

Idk your situation doesnt make much sense really. Cams dont lock unless you installed them wrong or the cam itself is warped, REALLY badly. Are you sure your battery is good on the car? You say that the car will turn over but doesnt have enough power or something.. Idk, just a thought.

first i would like to say thanks for your reply all input is helpful to me

the car started fine before i put the new cams in, and i wouldnt think the valves were bent because the engine didnt seem to try to start too hard as to where they would bend, but its a possability

the cams are not warped i dont think, they usually break rather than warp i think, and you are correct in one instance for sure, my battery is not good, i have to jump the car every time i need to start it so maybe the starter is not getting enough power...

I don't really have a solution for you, but it sounds like the previous owner did a cam swap on your car. It's probably 248/232 or 248/248. This is a popular upgrade for us as it makes more power than stock and alters your powerband.

Personally, I would have kept it that way and found someone to pass smog under the table. There are easier ways to pass smog, anyways. Just ask anybody with a turbo car. Your car will probably feel weaker once you get it running again.

oh really, that is good to know, yeah im sure they must have done that too my car, and yes i know that there is a easier way to do it, i know a guy that could do that for me right now, but when i go to sell it when im done fixing it, i dont want to be the d!ck that sold it to me, i can't really moraly do that to somebody else

but thanks for the input
