Well in my opinion I like the spec v much better. I have an 05 SE-R with the auto and my dad has the 02 spec V. There is definitely a difference. The spec v 6 speed transmission comes with a limited slip differential which helps greatly with the performance of the car. The spec v comes with better looking wheels than the se-r. Its the same motor in both cars, same intake and exhaust system. The only real difference other than the transmissions are the computers. The SE-R has 165 hp and 170 lbs/ft torque, while the spec v has 175 hp and 180 lbs/ft. After my research of about 10 minutes or so on Cars.com I found that there really isn't that much of a price difference. It depends on how many miles the car has really.

Hope this information helps.

Spec has a tighter stock suspension as well, it's not a purely cosmetic/transmission change. The 6spd also has a helical limited slip to put power down better.

So no, it's not really faster, but if you're going to be modding it, the limited slip is a good idea.

SeR model are only available with 5 speed manual transmission on 2002-03 models. All SeR 2004-06 are automatic only.

SeR SpecV is better than a SeR on several points. 17'' wheels,hlsd,6 speed, better looking interior, stiffer suspension.

okay i will probably go with the spec v. but the only thing i dont like about it is how fast you have to switch gears. i guess i am like that because my friend has a gsr and he can stay in a gear for a LONG time. but i know of some chips i can get to make them redline a lot higher. and i also have been wondering about a supercharger or a turbo. on the vids i have seen people only run like 5 lbs of boost on a turbo which isnt much at all. so supercharger or turbo?????

TURBO!!!!Unless you plan to make passes down the dragstrip then the way to go is turbo. Supercharger is only good for low end. I raced a cobalt ss with stage 2 pulley kit (supercharger) and at the start he only pulled a car and a half on me and thats where it stayed, the reason being that the supercharger drags too much on the engine.

I am just a turbo guy.

??? My 2003 SE-R is an automatic. (I wanted the Spec V, but my wife can't drive a stick, so I bought the SE-R). No complaints though. I still love the car.

Oh yea, if only I could. I tried to teach her once in a Celica I had, and never again. I learned my lesson. That car was never the same after she tried to drive it....har har.

I would go with a Spec V, but go for a '04+. The transmission is geared better and try to snag one with a brembo package.

There's just one problem with the brembo package and it's on winter. 15'' rims doesn't fit and maybe 16'' too. So you got no choice but to buy other 17'' wheels with low profil winter tires which are more expensive.
