SER Check engine light

I bought a 2002 SER. The check engine light keeps coming on, The code says it is the O2 sensor. The person I bought the car from had put on a Stainless cat back with no place for the after cat o2 sensor. I have only one O2 sensor, in the header. So I have one O2 plug unused and I think this is why The check engine light keeps coming on ( I replaced the O2 sensor in the header with a new one).

Has anyone come across a similar problem how did you get rid of the check engine light or fake out the computer to ignore the absence of the second sensor? (I don't want to use the black electrical tape method)
