hi witch gearbox is best a sequential or a manual?

it depends on how much money you have

a sequential will cost A LOOOOTTTTT of money, but its a ton better than a standard manual trans.

Okay, disreguarding the fact that a sequential transmission is usually pretty trick and overbuilt stuff made so that it generally is harder to break than oem stuff, its not that much better than a normal manual transmission. The only real advantage is the fact that its harder to mis shift since all you do is push up or pull down, instead of having to pull to the left and up or something. If a normal manual had custom gearing, harder gears and all that other cool stuff, it wouldn't really matter, it would come down to personal preference. A sequential is really useful in a track car where the tenth of a second shifting may make a difference in lap time, not as important in drifting.

no its just i can learn to drive in 6 months time and i am going to build a drift car over the next year or so and would like to know what sort of gearbox i should use

What about a sequential shifter. Correct me if i'm wrong, I remember seeing a website a while back that sells those. I think it was around 1,200. I'll post it when i see it again

ikeya formula sells one, but still, why? Many many many other things i could spend 1200 on, i think this one comes up as one of the last on my list.

Damn...a sequential gear box? That seems like overkill. Do the D1 guys even use those?

I wouldn't wnat it installed in my car even if it was free

it's almost like bmw smg... you take the fun out of driving a stick. I want to grind my gears, break my syncos and all that good stuff

Taniguchi has one in the HKS S15 Silvia, although its not gonna be used anymore for D1 i hear

yes, the HKS silvia did, Kumakubo uses one in his old S15 also, dont know if hes going to use it in the impreza.
