I have a 1999 Nissan Sentra that will not start. Heres the story:
A few months ago the car wouldn't start for her, so I went out and cranked on it for like 4 minutes on and off and it finally started. It helped when I floored the gas pedal even though it is fuel injected.
It has had numerous days since then where it won't start right away, so she just floors it while starting and it would start after 15 seconds or so. She says that it actually has a harder time starting in the afternoon, after work, rather before in the cold morning.
Yesterday it wouldn't start so she kept cranking it as usual, but then it seemed as if the battery died, and it quit turning over at all.
I went to the parking lot its sitting in today and (with the help of a nice man) cleaned the terminals, and sat there for like 30 minutes charging it and trying to start it with jumper cables. Even with my other car revved up to 5000 rpm, the car will only try to start for about 8 seconds and then the starter slows down and completley stops.
Does this sound like a bad starter to you guys? If so, could it have been the problem with the hard starting all along? If not, what do you think it is?
Thanks,
Dave
