so my question is will parts built for the 2.5 Sentra SER SPEC-V fit on my altima coupes 2.5. From what i can see online they should if i get parts for the 2003 sentra ser. This would open up a lot of options for performance and would also decrease the price i would be paying for parts. For example performance cams for my 2008 altima coupe cost over 600 while you can cams for the Sentra SER for under 400.

You can use certain parts such as the headers but you cannot use the cams from the sentra ser spec v. Since it may be the same engines, they're totally different from internal parts

cams are def worth it.....for one thing you will need performance cams if you want to run boost over 8psi safely....lol and im probably ordering a turbo kit for my coupe next month....already found a way to get around the cvt problem.....im having a shop building a custom titanium belt for the transmission ...so that the cvt will be able to handle the boost

Quite interesting on the belt but don't forget about the heat and torque convertor issues.

i accually have an idea for both of those problems...im going to look into custom fabricating a transmission cooler to keep the temp of the cvt down and have the torque convertor rebuild as well....lol its nice having a father in law that owns a performance car shop even if he normally works on domestics

What kind of cost are you expecting with all of the custom belts, trans coolers, and TC rebuild? IMO you would be better off trading for a MT or even swapping before doing all of the above. Who knows that you will even get the result you want after all of that work?

I would rather spend my money on a G37 vert coupe.

money wise im not sure yet...since my father in law shop is going to be doing the work i will not be paying for labor only for the parts, i have priced the full turbo kit and tune. It's a setup that my father in law is piecing together. total=2560. and there are several cars i would rather have as well however the reason im doing this is to be different. I see plenty of g37's altima coupe 6sp's, and 350z's ....i just feel like being different...just like im the only person i know that has a 2002 turbo volkswagen passat w8. I like doing what other people consider impractical or crazy because when i prove them wrong i have a one of a kind car. plus call me crazy but i like trying out the impossible at least until i fail....and that hasnt happened yet

Uh, no he wouldn't on the swap. It's hella expensive, lol... As for trading it in, it's possible depending on if anything is owed on the car. My problem was that I owed too much on my car to trade in for a 6speed at that time and I also had invested a ton of money into my current ride which meant a trade in was not financially sound. I'd have actually lost 10-12k by going the trade in route so the whole knee jerk reaction of "trade it in for a 6speed" doesn't always apply.

You see plenty of 6 speed coupes??? If so please tell me where??!?!??!

But you sound like me in that I wanted to have a unique car and build and not be the 1 millionth 350z on the road.

Honestly, I agree with DJ on this one. If you're going with turbo just start with a MT from the beginning, unless you're Ranga and you're a genius lol. It just seems like hella lots of work and money. Read Ranga's blog about swapping and boosting before you do anything, you'll get an idea on how much effort/money you'll be putting into the car.

I love the Altima Coupe, however, if I ever go with a performance car the AC will not be it. :gotme

Im not going to search for the thread now, but there was a shop in one of the Carolina's doing MT swaps for around $3250, parts included, if memory serves. I know a few members have done it and been burned in the pocket, but its not something that needs to cost thousands upon thousands of dollars. He is talking about a lot of custom fab and most likely a bit of trial and error engineering. I wouldnt be surprised if he hit that dollar amount rather easily, and still didnt have the car running how he wants it. Although, he did say he is not paying for labor so who knows. I dont even know $3250 is the correct number, but for some reason its stuck in my head.

To the OP, best of luck. Make sure you document your progress and post up an epic build thread.

You're referring to Key Nissan in South Carolina. Ironically I'm having my local Nissan dealer coordinate with the Key Nissan main tech manager guy Ernest to get the job complete (mainly to do with getting a new ECM/engine harness + flash). But yeah, they "finished" the job for $3800 as I recall for him. That was after the guy had a donor car to rip parts out of though. I can't remember the other costs but due to the donor car his final build cost came out to be less than mine although you also have to keep in mind that his car wasn't boosted. So to say this can all be done cheaply is a bit false. But man, I wish it was $3250 w/parts included, sign me up! :chuckle:

I knew I was forgetting something! Donor car could help...just a little. Ha!

Dont get me wrong, $3800 is definitely not cheap, I just think adding all of the things OP mentions might hit that mark very easily.

Yeah, for all those parts I can see it being that but it's still cheaper than mt parts cost.
