Sentra SE alternator removal

Hey,

I have a 2000 Sentra SE. Need to get the alternator out for replacement. Everything is out or free at this point but the pivot bolt (the one at the bottom of the alternator). When I tried to get it out it hits the inner fender and won't come out enough to free up the alternator. Has anybody ever done one of these before and what's the secret?

Any help would be appreciated!!

you havent been in a crash or hit anything that would dent the fender in have you?
