Hey everyone, i recently got a 1.8 sentra and was looking to swap a 2.5 into it. Would it be better to use a ser or a ser spec v to take the parts from? I still want to keep it automatic since i cant drive stick shift.

Only the standard SE-R came with an auto, the Spec V was manual only. So you're best bet is to stick with a regular SE-R. Good luck with the project!

Okay, i thought so but i wanted to double check. It'll be a little bit but ima build the engine with the intention of turboing it, is there anything to help out with the transmission?

That I wouldn't know to be honest. I've never looked into what the TQ capabilities the Nissan autos have. Hopefully someone else who does will chime in!

Okay, well thanks anyways. My last question before i start ordering parts is would the suspension parts fit from a spec v to my 1.8? I can find so many parts for those that it would be easier to order say a sway bar or something like wise if it would work. I feel like it should but I'm unsure

I can tell you with 100% assurance that the stock SE-R auto transmission was NOT built for a boosted QR engine. I say that because that is what I currently have.

The QR is a very good engine when maintained but the auto transmission can't handle it and you'll be rebuilding it if you're heavy and constantly in boost.
Then comes the tuning. I have osiris from uprev and loved it from day one. One important thing to remember is the 'pressure line' or something like that which tells the transmission when to shift.

Good luck.

Well im glad to hear good about osiris as i was planning to use that for my tuning. Oh, and i did find this article that could help with the automatic, it's mainly about an older sentra transmission but works for all nissan fwd transmissions.... Alright, a little update, i have a catback exhaust on my car now that I'll be using with my new engine. Meanwhile I'm working on my stereo system and i was wondering, with the tiny sub in the trunk is there a separate amp for it or is it just made on to it? I have heard both... I don't have the RF package on it, i have changed the head unit and the speakers are next i was just wanting some info on this before i got too carried away...

Even if it has a stock amp, I would by pass it and install an aftermarket amp because the stock amp might under power the speakers.

Yeah, I've searched the car and not found one, so i guess just the one made on to it. Should be fine then, got a 10 inch sub and two amps to work with, one mono and one 4 channel, should be fun

Okay, so while finding all my parts i was doing some calculations and want some advice. Since the price wouldn't be too far off would it be better to do a 2.5 or 3.5 swap? The swap it's self will be done by a shop but i will be building the motor and transmission myself...
