I bet you guys forgot about me...

I got so tired on waiting on the shop to finish tuning my car, I went ahead and rebuilt a 91 SER Sentra in the meantime.

But they called me this week and said they got the 90 CA18det running, but it only put down 125 hp at the wheels with 8 psi, but it is bone stock except it has a FMIC and better exhaust/intake. That sound about right? Regardless, it's running and runs well according to them, I'll know soon when I go to pick it up.

Man, what kind of shop are you dealing with and how are they tuning it? Do you have any piggy back systems or other upgrades that will allow them to make fuel and timing adjustments? If your engine and stuff is stock, then there is nothing for them to tune and they are feeding you garbage to make your money. A stock CA18DET in a FWD platform produces much more than 125whp. I'm sorry dude, but if that's what your car is putting down, then your car is not running as well as they say it does; or they just don't know any better.

I'm thinking it may be a compression problem, they said the air/fuel ratio was good and they had adjusted with the timing etc which is what I meant by running well ie not missing or anything. He did say it was pretty heat soaked by that time. They did get up to 140 whp after that.

What kind of whp numbers should we be seeing?

I mean, unless the T=too-small is crapping-out, the thing should at least get to around 170whp @ 8psi. Sounds more like a fuel enriched pig and that goes back to tuning. I scrapped-up 200+whp back in the day off that crappy turbo, but it kept dying and I kept getting it rebuilt until I gave up on the little snails all together. If you're running a haltech, what injectors are you using? Please don't tell me the 370s (Please )

Everything is bone stock, this engine has not had ANYTHING touched. It came off the boat and was dropped into this car then new exhaust hooked up and a K&N and the haltech and 8 psi - thats it. I'm not trying to build a car for speed, just wanted the old sentra to be not so slow hehe. It'll be drove nearly everyday.

I'm just wondering if it may be that the injectors are not flowing well, or the compression is just that bad. I think we had 130-140 per cylinder if I remember, keep in mind it's been over a year since we fooled with it until lately.

I saw your old posts on the nissan forum that nobody ever posts on, and wondered what ever happened to your B12 and if you got it finished.
I am a noob, from AZ, who is (trying) to become another in the ranks of CA18DET B12s. I have my motor, and a trans, but so far am having fun trying to find other parts.
It's nice to hear you got yours running, and i wish you good luck with getting it running better!

Cool you got any pics of it? I tell you I seen a Sentra Hatchback in town the other day and I'm to tempted to go buy it and make a Sunny ZX out of it.

That compression is a bit low, but still useable. Again, the engine should be putting-out more than that to the wheels. With that engine management system installed, you just changed the game as it will not be a simple sentra anymore. Seriously, get rid of the 370s as they suck and suck even worse because you are using a standalone.

Haha, wow, thats funny. I nabbed em for $70 bucks in the junkyard off a 98 SE. 15"s barely fit on there, it looks good but the tires rub if i try to corner at all. Needs b13 coilovers i think.
