Hi!

I need some help from... I own a 2015 Nissan Sentra SV and today while I was changing the oil at a local Wal-Mart the guy called me and said that there is an oil leak. I took some pictures. Would you help me with that? I don't know if it's the transmission or the engine. He took the pictures when the car was up and didn't allow me to stay under the car. Maybe the crankshaft seal? Or the transmission seal?

I wonder if the Nissan powertrain's warranty covers an engine or transmission leak in that case. 53k miles, 2015.

Here are the photos: https://imgur.com/a/mDWr7

Thanks in advance

That is the mating surface between the trans and engine, correct? That's looking like a rear main seal. Engine oil for sure, no path marks down, just starts there at the bottom of the trans bellhousing. As far as the warranty goes, the worst that can happen is you call and they say no. I think those had a 60k mile powertrain warranty though, cause my wife had her CVT replaced at 59k, right before warranty expired.

Hate to say this, but it's probably not worth fixing. Just to fix that leak would require the separation of the trans from the engine - major surgery to fix a very minor problem. Probably best to just live with this one.

a small amount of oil can make a large looking leak.....I'd have nissan take a look if its under warranty...if its not...clean up the seepage and drive it...check and see how fast it comes back..and decide then

Thanks for the replies. I was the transmission oil leaking. I visited Bill Ray Nissan here in Orlando and they installed a "new" transmission. Left the car one day in the morning, they gave me a loaner (a new Versa) and the next day the problem was solved. A+
