To diagnose your overheating problem, first check:
Is your coolant tank bubbling? You might have a blown headgasket. I think it starts bubbling regardless if your engine is too hot, but if it bubbles when the engine is not hot, I'm guessing it's your headgasket.
Bubbles in hoses. Most new thermostats have a bubble valve so you don't have to do this. If your thermostat doesn't have one, then you have to get all of the bubbles out of the hose by parking your car on a steep slant and running your engine while squeezing the hose. Look more into this as I do not know exactly how to do it.
Does your clutch fan engage properly? I don't know how to tell if it's working or not, so look that up.
Is your radiator dirty? If so, clean it. If it's broken, buy a new one.
Thermostat. Is it new or old? Replace if old.
I don't know how to diagnose a water pump, but if it is more than 10 years old, I'd say go ahead and replace it, it's probably dying...
I would suggest checking that stuff in that specific order.
