Can someone tell me the functions of this sensor on the front of the Rb25det Head?

Dont own Rb25 but isn't that VVT, camshaft variable valve timing or something, I'm only 80% positive.Maybe someone with Rb25 can chime in, confirm or deny. from pic seems to me it's right behind timing belt cover, I that your FPR?

Or you could actually use that feature with megasquirt. Man, it amazes me you have gotten this far without really knowing what everything is.

I do not have This sensor hooked up at all now that I am using the megasquirt. But I still am having a hard time getting my car to start cold. Iit acts like the timing is retarded too much. Would this sensor be a case in my problem? if so how do I delete this sensor from working?

Is that megasquirt made for the RB25??If so then it probably has a base map and its looking for that VVT.

But I dunno if that would affect your cold start??You should have a cone shaped sensor/actuator thingie that is connected to your IACV. That is the air regulator. That is supposed to take care of cold start air.

If you have a NEO then you won't have that.Carl said in a post one time that is uses the same thing the SR does for cold start. I only remember something about Wax sensor....

Check your base ignition timing and your valve timing. Make sure they're ok.Then check to see if you have a huge boost leak or your BOV is open.I know it was hard to start my car cause my BOV was wide open at idle and I had massive boost leaks.

The Megasquirt will run any engine you want from a 1cyl to a 12cyl, I No longer get my timing trigger from the CAS, I get it from a 32-1 crank trigger will and a ford vr sensor. SO as long as you have your wheel configured correctly in the ms program timing should be dead on. Which I have varified with a timing light. But I just wonder if that sensor iss not moving my intake cam somehow causing it to start funny?I had this problem running on gas and stock ecu. It seemed like it took nothing to flood the motor with gas when starting. Now with the megasquirt setup and a ls2 coil setup with propane its kinda the same crap. Although on gas it was bad about not starting when hot. Now on propane when hot its fine. lol Idk, I just think there is a combo there gettin me. Ill get the bugs sorted.

I don't know if it's been said in here already, but that's not the VCT "sensor", it's the solenoid that activates it.
