Sensor next to engine temp sensor

What is this sensor called and what does it do?? I have a 90 KA24E and i can't seem to find that little black sensor anywhere in the FSM. Its next to the red engine temperature sensor. Thanks.

I'd assume it's the same as the DOHC...

There are 2 engine coolant temp sensors - One for the ECU (big red one), and the small black one is for the dash gauge.
