Hey I have K & A air intake that I got about 10 years ago. Anyway, When I installed it I hade to remove a sensor from the stock intake bok and place it on the outside of the cone. It was wierd looking thing like a diode so something with 2 legs that went into the base of the sensor. It would always fall out and just hang there. Well, Today I removed my AVI with no problems and of course that sensor was just hanging. When I placed into the cone I noticed that the top of the sensor(the thing 2 legs) was missing and only the base was there. I unpluged it. Do I need to get another one? What is it anyway? I can take a picture of it and where it plugs in if nobody knows what I am talking about. The car is a 90 s13

THANKS

The sensor is for diagnostic purposes only, Mr. Peabody... If you unplug the sensor it will throw a code(check engine light), but have no ill effects on your engines performance... A simple solution is to install a .99 cent resistor(1.1 ohm) from Radio Shack... Again, there are no performance gains from this modification... It only prevents the code from being thrown...

The air temperature sensor has no influence on your ignition/fuel/idle .... (not sure why the hell we have one)

And it seem, if you unplug it, it will not throw out engine error code, since it is not a self-dainostic item.

Why don't you just plug it in for no reason ? :)To inspect Air Temperature Sensor:

While Ignition switch is "ON"1. If air temperature is 20c/68F , power output is 1.0-1.5V2. If Air temperature is 80c/176F, power output is 0.3V

I say, if you still get resistance from the air temperature, just leave it there and forgot its existance :D

Cheers. :)

Thanks Everybody, For some reason my 90 s13 does not have a check engine light. Thanks, I will just leave it unpluged and forget about it. Later, MR P
