My boost controller is set at 20PSIG. the 60mm wastegate spring is at 10PSIG... The wastegate starts opening around 13 or 15 PSIG and of course stops at 20PSIG. Now I'm curious If i'm losing lots of power from that period till it hits 20PSIG.... Is that normal or is it a problem with the wstegate or manual boost controller? Wouldn't you want it to hit 20 then the WG open?

Mods are Rb25, fmic, exhaust, gt35r, injectors, map/iat non-mafs.

Thanks

ideally you want the wg to open at target pressure and nothing else...however this never happens unless you're using some kind of boost controller.it sounds like an issue with the mbc, perhaps its leaking because with my greddy e-01 in manual mode it shoots to target boost before the wg even thinks of opening.

I'm going to assume that means its a manual boost controller and not electronic.

Do you know if it's a "bleeder" design? that's my guess thats the issue.

It has a bleeder hole predrilled... I thought those holes were so it wouldn't spike its just a plain old ball-and-spring design.

invest in a electronic boost controller, im runnign a greddy EO-1. with it you can set the target boost, w/g valve speed and over boost.my w/g open at the target boost, not opening 6 psi before your target boost,

spend the extra money and grab a ebc!

ditch the home depo crap plz! or at least for the sake of your rb!
