After thumbing through the "BF" section of the FSM ('94 Q45), withh the infamous 1 point font, I did not see any manual procedure for opening or closing the power sunroof. My daily warrior has the usual noise but no action from the motor.

I just needed it to open far enough to install an after market deflector, and close it up tight, even if only in manual mode.

I didn't see this in any documentation, but I guess that I just missed it, hence the "senior moment."

Thanx!

Why not use the Acrobat formatted FSM? Font is any size you make it.

Sun roof operation detailed in OM.

Hope you are not thinking of installing one of those minivan deflectors. I mean, if you can't open the sunroof anyway......?

If you pop off the sunroof switch assembly, you'll have access to the sunroof motor, there should be a spot to use an allen wrench/hex key .

Thats the manual open/close.

Here's a link to my article about the sunroof clutch. If the problem is with your cables, I don't think turning the motor manually will help. If the cable assembly is OK, you might as well try adjusting the clutch http://www.nicoclub.com/articles.php?id=215858

Heath-

Good call! I could have turned the assembly manually all day, in either direction, to no avail. It probably IS the cabling, and fortunately for me, the roof is 99% closed (OK, without a perfect seal towards the back of the car) because it is SNOWING in ATLANTA right now.

On a 224K mile vehicle, I don't think it's worth it to gut the interior just so I can get to the roof assembly.

Thanks for the info!

Terry
