I have a 2014 Rogue SL and am unable to send or receive text messages. I have been dealing with the dealer regarding this issue for almost a year. The same week I purchase my rogue, I switched from blackberry to iPhone5 because I needed a better quality camera on my phone to work. I was led to believe an Iphone would be more compatible with the rogue. They later informed me that the IPhone wouldn't work with the talk to text feature because Nissan requires that the phone use MAPP protocol, but having switched to a Samsung S5, the feature is still not working. The dealer is stumped as it is on the list of compatible phones. They have replaced the head unit. The phone was tried today in a 2015 rogue and it did the exact same thing (it "pretends" to send one message, which doesn't actually get sent, then on any subsequent attempt it says text messaging not available). Does anyone have any suggestions? Does anyone have a Samsung S5 that actually works with the talk to text feature on a rogue? Any help is appreciated.

try to enter number for your first message than you can use names from phonebook. at least it works for me. i had s4 and now i have note3. way around worked for both. it also works when you reply on message sent to you.

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, that doesn't work either. It does the same thing-pretends to send the first message (which the intended recipient does not receive) and for any subsequent attempt, it indicates that text messaging is not available.

I do not have NissanConnect, as I only have the S model. But I was told at dealership that I could send and receive text. Not! I chatted with Nissan the other day and they told me "no iPhone can send text, it's an Apple iOS limitation, though they can all receive". Makes no sense to me that it works one way but not the other. Anyone have any further info?

Just got the 2015 Rogue SV 400 miles ago and having the same disappointments.
I have "Show Notifications" enabled on my Iphone 4s bluetooth settings. That's supposed to do the trick, per the Apple support site.
But, when I voice command to read texts, the reply I get is "no texts to read".
When I voice command to send text, the reply I get is "text messaging not available."
FWIW, vehicle is in Park when attempting this. Vehicle has NissanConnect.

What about your phone? Do you have the app installed? NissanConnect Compatibility: Requires iOS 6.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.

Just a small update. Yesterday I have picked up '15 Murano S w/Navy Pkg and messaging works perfectly with Note 4. If anyone wants to try to upgrade their navy in Rogue I can make an image of SD card from Murano and upload it somewhere. The only funny problem my Rogue didn't have a navy and all nissan connect apps worked except google now. Now in murano only google now works but none of the other apps.

Doesn't the Murano have an updated system and interface versus the Rogue's?

Not sure. I didn't have a navy in the Rogue. Wanna test it?

Has anyone gotten text messaging to work on 2015 rogue sl with nav?

I have an ATT LG optimus g pro (e980) on Android 4.4.2. This feature has never worked for me. With the phone connected via bluetooth, when I invoke the "send text" command, I see a message that says "Text messaging not available" or something to that effect. This happens whether the car is on the move (at varying speed) or stationary on park.

Once it did "not" give that error message and I actually heard a beep from the car however, the recipient phone never received the message.

I see that LG e980 is a supported phone for this feature, so what gives?

It depends on the phone compatibility and software update. My note 3 was working perfectly in the Rogue. Note 4 with 4.4.4 wasn't working at all. My GF's LG G3 was working great. Note 4 with 5.0.1 was working partially like I could read it. That applies to the Rogue w/o navy. Now in my murano note 4 with 4.4.4 wasn't working at all but with note 4 5.0.1 started to work except when i press messaging I get an error that murano isn't compatible with note 4 but it still works. My GF's LG G4 works perfectly with both vehicles. So if your phone doesn't work your only option is to replace an os your phone or to replace a phone with the one that is compatible 100% on nissan's website which you can find right here: http://www.nissanusa.com/bluetooth/search

I did a some of reading about this on the apple forums, seems like iOS 8 is the culprit.. some iphone users with iOS8 will experience some functionality to none in terms of text messaging.. It has something to do with Apple iphone messaging permission.. Unfortunately, i have not heard / read of anyone with fix or a solution to this issue :frown: :frown:
