I KNOW THIS ISN'T THE RIGHT FORUMS BUT IT HAS TO DO WITH OUR BELOVED ENGINES SO I WANT TO ASK YOU GUYS OPINIONS AND TIPS.

KEEP IN MIND I HAVE A POWER GOAL OF AROUND 400WHP.

FIRST, DO YOU THINK OVER 1G ON THE SKID PAD IS OBTAINABLE? WHY OR WHY NOT?

SECOND, HOW WOULD YOU GO ABOUT MODIFING YOUR SUSPENSION, IF YOU HAVE A BUDGET OF ALITTLE SHY OF $3K FOR IT?

THIRD, BRAKING POWER SUFFICENT WITH UPGRADED STOCK PARTS? OR AM I BETTER GOING UP TO A LARGER 4 PISTON (FRT) - 4 PISTON (R) SETUP? WOULD A 6/4 SETUP BE MORE BENEFICIAL?

FOURTH, COOLING IS THE STANDARD RADIATOR SUFFICENT FOR THE EXTREME AZ HEATS WITH THAT TYPE OF POWER? SHOULD I UPGRADE TO A 2 OR 3 CORE WITH A LOWER TEMP THERMOSTAT?

I'M SURE THERE WILL BE MORE BUT THIS IS WHAT I'M STUCK ON AS OF NOW. I'M TRYING TO ACHIEVE MY GOAL OF BEATING A STOCK CORVETTE C6 ALL THE WAY AROUND THE BOARD. THIS MEANS IT HAS TO OUT HANDLE, OUT POWER, OUT BRAKE, JUST OUT PERFORM THE C6 ON ALL ASPECTS EXCEPT FOR COMFORT, LOOKS, AND LUXURY.

Well, first off, this is just my opinion. I've never hit 1g in a 240SX or even seen anyone else do it...

But with the correct camber and high quality tires (did you forget about tires?) I think you could do it. You would need something on par or better than a Goodyear GS-C and at least 225mm wide. And your camber would need to be perfect. After you have very, very good tires and a decent set of coil-overs, it's all about setup.

I have the 300Z front brakes... they are nice. I also have the 300Z rear brakes, but they are still in the box. Can't say whether they would haul you down faster than a C-6 tho.

With 400 rwhp, you should easily beat a stock C-6 down the 1/4 mile. But is a C-6 supposed to do 1g on the skidpad???

Btw, I was reading the other day that the Viper and Ford GT both hit 60 mph in 1st gear. If the C-6 has gearing like that, it could be hard to beat around town.

WELL I HAVE A PERFORMANCE TRANSMISSION SHOP WELL DEAL WITH HEAR THAT CAN CUT ME ANY GEAR RATIO I WANT. THE ALSO HAVE A GEARING COMPUTER THAT WILL SHOW YOU HOW EACH GEAR WILL REACT.

NO, I DIDN'T FORGET ABOUT TIRES THATS JUST APART OF THE DRIVELINE UPGRADES I'M DOING. I'M GOING WITH 17X7 AND 17X8, ALUMINUM DRIVESHAFT, AND NISMO CLUTCH TYPE LSD.

THERE IS A SHOP THAT DOES OUR ALIGNMENTS THAT ALSO DO RACE CAR ALIGNMENTS, THIS IS WHO I WOULD HAVE TUNE MY SUSPENSION FOR MY CAR.

THE LAST I HEARD ABOUT THE C6 IS THAT IT WAS DOING OVER A G BUT THAT WAS JUST THE PROTOTYPE. I JUST WANT 1 G BECAUSE THAT WOULD BE ENOUGH FOR ME.

BRAKES I CAN GO WITH A FULL ON RACING SETUP FOR $2200, A TOURING UPGRADE FOR $1G, OR UPGRADE WHAT I HAVE FOR AROUND $500. THE FULL RACE IS WILWOOD 6 PISTON FRONTS AND 4 PISTON REARS, THE TOURING PACKAGE IS WILLWOOD 4 PISTON FRONTS AND UPGRADED STOCK REARS, THE UPGRADE ON STOCKS ARE CD ROTORS, STAINLESS LINES, AND UPGRADED PADS.

All that suspension stuff would probably run you over 3G, if you get really nice coilovers (that's about 2K right there).

To that suspension list, I would maybe add strengthened tie rods (stronger, won't bend, and supposedly they make for a tighter steering angle at full lock). Also, definitely get some upper pillow ball strut mounts from Tanabe or Cusco, so your fancy-pants $2,000 coilovers won't wobble on their stock crappy rubber mounts ;)

OK THE COILOVERS I'M LOOKING AT WILL COST ME $1350 AND IT COMES WITH MOUNTS, THE ADJUSTABLE ARMS ARE GOING TO COST ME $800, NISMO BRACE IS $150, THE ROLL BAR IS $450, SWAY BARS ARE $250 FOR BOTH, SO YEAH IT GOES OVER 3K BUT I'LL PROBABLY BE ABLE TO GET HUGE DISCOUNTS LIKE I ALWAYS DO.

Do a GTR brake upgrade, it basically 300zx 30mm caliper with GTR rotors, and also you need to fab a mounting bracket which is easy, gtr rotors are 1.75" bigger, so you need to raise the caliper 1.75"

or you can do a VR4 conversion that is a 300zx 30mm caliper with VR4 rotors 12.5" i believe, it is 15mm farther that the stock rotors so you have to have a 15mm spacer between the caliper and mounting location, and 1.5" higher too heres a site that may help: http://www.zfilms.org/Stories/....html they say that the rotor is 12.7, from http://store.yahoo.com/ginnmot....html click on installion and if you look its 12.5

hope that can help you make a decision :)

you can also use r32 gts-t brakes, i think they are the 26mm ones.ive got a set sitting in my clip right now, and they will be going on when i get the engine in and running.ive got silkroad coilovers and they are quite nice, cost me 1320 shipped, right in the price range you are looking at.8 way adjustable and come with 8/7 springs.look at http://www.dgtrials.com for more info on them.

There was someone on club240 who wanted to make his S13 match a Porsche GT3 in every category. Your goals are a lot more realistic compared to his...anywhoo...

Real useful suspension tuning is more than just aggressive alignment. You'd have to take it on a track, course or skidpad and have the suspension slowly tweaked to maximize contact patch. You're definitely going to want a new radiator, and try to put in pull fans if you can cram them in there.

If you want to go waaay overkill on brakes, there's a company called Tarox that produced 10-pot calipers. Ten pistons to slice your body in half through the seatbelt with.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what advantage do pull fans have to push?

edit* I think I figured it out, they just force air to be pulled through instead of blowing air at the radiator and having it deflect off and not go through.

I would go with the whiteline adjustable sway bars. Theres more to a good handling car than what it pulls on a skid pad.

I don't like pdm-racings method of sales. Adjustable endlinks are available elsewhere.

What's wrong with their method of sale? I might be buying stuff from them so if there's a problem, I'd like to know.

you have to email or fax them an order not just buy from the site online. its a bit risky and taskful so i'd rather have the conveinence of online sales.
