Car: Versa 1.8 Manual

Post

Assuming all holds true I could very well have a Versa 1.8 shortly but first I need some help!.. I’ve never sold a car before in Florida (I’m originally from Ireland). Keep in mind here I’m just one person with one car right now so…

Current Car:1998 Mercury Tracer GS, Power Steering, manual locks, doors CD/MP3/WMA, USB Slot, SD Slot and Aux in Stereo (not a fancy brand or anything). Car is worth around $1,800 - $2,000 side of the road. It’s in near perfect shape, body is almost perfect apart from a minor scuff, paint shines, interior is very clean, everything works perfect it has 95,500 on the clock but has a vacuum leak (nothing major) which causes minor shaking at idle. Timing belt just done, new battery a few months ago and new A/C about 2 years ago.

To Sell or Trade:KBB is saying my car at trade in value is worth $800 or there about. So I’m tempted to just sell it myself only.. how can I buy a new car and legally drive it if I need a tag or something on the old one so people can test drive it? Can I get a temporary tag from the dealer for the new car or a temporary tag from the DMV for the old car so a buyer can legally test drive it on the road?

So far I’ve two dealers offering to sell me a 1.8 Versa for $12,400 out the door minus tag and I'm taking one of them up on that offer I do have one dealer that’s got a coupon for an “extra $500 off” your trade in lol but they haven’t yet matched the prices of the other dealers if they do and I could get them up a bit more than $800 as a trade it I could then spring the $500 off on them and get close to $1,300 - $1,500 in total for my old car including the coupon on top of that I could then add a few 100 extra and my deposit is done? I've not told any dealers I've got or would use a trade in.

Am I expecting too much? Like I said I’ve never sold a car in Florida before, never bought a new car before and just want to make sure I get the best deal I can without being ripped off in the process. I don’t mind selling my old car myself but it’ll delay me buying a new car which is ok I just don’t want to end up without a car or a deal on a new one lol I've never bought anything this big so I don't wanna end up being rejected for credit and end up without a car lmao! I should get approved first!

It is always good to try and sell your car first. Dealers rip you off the price on a trade in. Keep it local and use craigslist.com or maybe even branch out with ebay motors..

But yes, I think you are expecting a bit much. Hopefully I am wrong though. I can understand your concern. Just take your time and it will all come together.

Your right I shouldn't rush it at this point!.. There's nothing I suppose to stop me getting the Versa then selling the old car and paying that off my loan on the Versa if allowed. I have to admit I feel like I'm 9 again waiting up for Christmas!
