Hey everyone! First off, I'm new! Hai. :) I have been ghosting these forums for awhile.

I bought a lovely 2008, bright red Nissan Altima last November with aftermarket suspension, exhaust, and cool air intake. I absolutely love it. BUT, I just found out a couple things:
- radiator support is cracked (from previous owner)
- A/C pressure switch is no longer there (assuming the previous owner took it off?)

I live in NC, so A/C is nice to have...although I don't mind driving around with all the windows open. BUT still...

My question for you guys is, do you know if aftermarket parts tends to affect trade-in value negatively? If I wanted to sell this car :tisk: , am I better off craigslisting it?

Don't get me wrong, I love love love it, but I'm concerned I won't be able to take care of it properly.

Thanks :)

After market parts definitely affect on trade in value for the negative. The only thing that can possibly help are after market wheels but that still depends on the wheels. Granted they are close to original size and in good shape. I always keep my stock components i.e. exhaust, air box...etc. I traded in my mazda 6 to Nissan which had every bolt on known to man and then some....I managed to convince the Nissan dealership to uninstall my after market components and give them back to me in exchange for the stock parts. This was mixed in with my negotiations for my lease of my 11 altima coupe. Little did they know that there was about 7 hours of labor involved in returning that car to stock.... But things like that you can use as leverage in your corner.

Anything like intake, exhaust, suspension will send a red flag up for dealerships because the majority of people that come to the dealerships are not looking for a modded vehicle. Craigslist may work well...but even better are forums like this.

Goodluck

Id just swap your parts with another AC member that will be the quickest solution to your problem. What kind of car are you going to get??

What kind of aftermarket parts are on it? I'm in Chicago, but moving to Raleigh, NC June 3rd. Hell if you want I can help you fix the few issues with the car. I got a few mods myself and love the car. Although I'm thinking of trading up for the new Boss Mustang in a year or so

depending on what parts you have, i'd be willing to trade you my stock parts for your aftermarket parts so you could get full trade in value
