hey everyone... I drive a 2000 Toyota Celica GTS and it might be time for it to bite the dust. My option for a new car, the Altima Coupe, so I'm coming to the source for your opinions on your cars.. Likes? Dislikes? Any information would be super helpful.

Thanks!

Well how can I say no to that??? :p

Truthfully I think my car is a tad sportier looking but I took a coupe for a test drive yesterday, not many complaints.. kind of a ****ty blind spot and it's bigger than my car but other than that.. I think I'm ever closer to getting one..

I was all set to buy a new Toyota, but 3 things made me reconsider.1.) Toyota's unreal reputation for quality has been taking a few hits recently. The Tacoma frame rust-out debacle for one. They are recalling like 15,000 vehicles nationwide. I work for a company that transports Toyotas to dealerships and many more are being held at port for problems than ever before. At the same time, Nissan's quality has steadily improved.2.) Toyota is no longer offering manual shift on models like the Corolla "S", which makes absolutely no sense. This is a sporty car, yet you can only get it in automatic starting with the 2009 model. The XRS Corolla just doesn't appeal to me and I didn't want to buy an LE just to get manual.3.) And most importantly, I was walking through the car lot one day a few weeks ago and among the 3000 cars parked there I saw my first Altima Coupe 2.5 in Code Red. It drew me to it and it's fluid lines spoke to me like no car ever has. I now have the same model and color parked in my driveway. The Coupe is everything I ever dreamed of in a car, and then some.

are you getting a 2.5 or 3.5??? The blind spot is bad on both, as well on the G35/37 coupes as well. That being said sit in the GTS and 3.5 and you'll soon realize which car is sportier.

The best thing is all of the looks you get on the highway. The AC is such a rare car that everyone is trying to figure out what I'm driving. As you pass the hordes of Accord Coupes and Civic Coupes and Scions and Solaras and G35s and G37s on the road, you'll start to appreciate it's uniqueness. Plus, it's just a solid coupe. Not much truck space or rear seat room, but if you're in the market for a coupe you already know this. The ride is comfy and the car comes with a lot of options. When I tell people what the price is, they expect it was higher than it is.

Hahahaha you guys are priceless... yes I was considering the 3.5... although the 2.5 is still nice it doesn't have enough guts for me, especially since it's less than my GTS.. I believe it about the looks though, I had to go to 4 different dealerships to find out that they only have one 3.5 in stock for me 5 cities away!

If they're like my nissan dealer they will find the car you want and drive it to you. (keep in mind i already agreed to buy it) I wanted a dark slate 3.5 w/ premium and tech pkgs. They looked all the way up to SF and all the way down to LA and got it to me in 1 day.

Go to the US to get one....I'm sure you'll find lots more there, and take home a savings of several thousand dollars. As a fellow Canadian, that's exactly what I'm going to be doing! Don't support Canadian dealerships price gouging us!

3.5 Altima Coupe CVT w/ Premium Package in Canada: MSRP$37,998.00 w/ freight and PDE

3.5 Altima Coupe CVT w/ Premium Package in the US: MSRP$29,710 w/ destination charge.

Hmm...savings of 7 grand for a little bit of extra work. I'd say it's pretty hard to argue with that! Plus, if you buy in Canada you'll be paying taxes on a higher amount. If you buy on the US you don't have to pay any state taxes if it's for export, and you pay the same Canadian taxes but on a lesser amount. Thats close to another thousand in savings right there!

If you can afford it go with the G-37 or a used G-35 coupe, I am trading in my 2008 Altima coupe ( 780 miles) this weekend for a G-37.................. The coupe was just not what I thought it to be. After test driving the G-37 I just could not get back into my coupe, oh well it's only money. Good luck to all you out there with your coups.

used G35 vs new AC.. I had the debate and picked the new AC.. more options that I actually liked (I HATE leather interiors, except the look of course) and the G35 is a bit overrated.. power-wise its got some gittyup. Coming from V8's growing up I knew I wasnt going to be "satisified" with the power of the 3.5 anyway, so the 2.5 gas mileage and regular unleaded made me bite the bullet. Besides the 2.5 isnt fast by any means, but it keeps me out of trouble for a change! (great conversation started when you get stopped for your illegal tint that you will HAVE to have! LMAO!.. real experience with this one :P told him I got it that way.. go figure)now for the G37.. thats a whole different ball game, if youve got the coin GET IT! lol

personally I test drove multiple 2005, 2006 used G35s and loved the 3.5 SE 6MT much more...if I had had the choice of the two cars NEW I would have still selected the Altima. I loved it then, and 10,000 miles later I love it even more now.

No regrets whatsoever. For my money, its the best car available for the money thats mine.

What can I say? This is only the second new car I've owned in over 40 years of driving. In all that time no car has appealed to me like the Coupe. I love everything about it and I'm loving it more every time I get behind the wheel. If it could cook and clean too, I probably would marry it!
