Hello,

After having trouble with the starter for a while, my starter quit on me in the Ralph's parking lot. Now I need a starter

It's a 98 Q45, if anyone can sell me one that they have ASAP I would really appreciate it! My Q is disabled

You can get from Joe, InfinitiPartsUSA.com, 1-888-216-5328 for $289.70. They have a flat rate $5 shipping fee for this month. I checked Kragen, price range from $121 to $330 while at AutoZone, it's $244 (less $85 for core). Your call which one you want.

Any idea if a starter from the earlier models are any different? I have a starter off a '92 I received with some parts that I won't be using.

This brings up an issue that I had been meaning to post about. I am currently on my 3rd starter for my 01. The 2nd lasted a little more than 18 months. These have all been OEM installed by the dealer in my area. Even when new, about once a month the starter will not "engage" properly and grind the flywheel.

Any other Y33 owners have starter issues or is there anything that could be causing this. As soon as I can get to an AutoZone I plan to have the battery tested since it is getting some age on it. Could a bad spot in the teeth of the flywheel from the first starter going bad be an issue? The one time that the car stranded me I was actually sitting in the dealers lot picking the car up from an oil change, but my wife and son are the usual users of the Q so, the starter issue always nags at the back of my mind.

Ok...I may not be a mechanic, but I do know that the starter will grind when the car is running. I was speaking of when trying to START the engine.

yes your son and wife might make that mistake since i let my mother drive mine and in 3 hours she did it 2ice since my car runs so smooth and i have been close to doing it a few times but neever actually have thats what i ment you start missing teeth and the starter it self could start going bad because of that im just saying that and if your grinding the way you are saying it should be because its loose or least likely your flywheel has teeth missing...............
