Hello,

Trust everyone is enjoying a safe and enjoyable 4th of July!

Did a bit of searching on my topic but decided to start a new thread.

Our '08 3.5 SE, 6 sp still drives like it just left the dealers lot and the mileage is just over 52k. My only gripe has been tire life. The OEM's wore out around 25k, perhaps to be expected since I don't believe manufacturers spend a lot of money on the original set. At my current mileage, the Dunlop SP Sport Signature's are about 2/32 above the wear bars and I'm estimating about 10k to go, tops. Probably will replace them before winter. Pressures have been maintained per the door sticker, rotation @ 6k and after I discovered the right front was scrubbing away, an alignment was performed. Will throw on a used tire for the summer, then replacement all around.

This is my wife's primary car and is driven in a fairly mellow fashion.

Understanding that many factors play into tire life expectancy, what are others experiencing? Any manufacturer recommendations, again with long life being the first consideration would be welcome.

Best wishes.

From personal experience for long life I'd go with "Good year" or "Hankook"

Had horrible wear with Eagle GTs last time around, handling was terrific. I've recently moved up to Michelin Pilot Super Sports. Insanely fierce gripping and handling, so we'll see how the tread life is for $250 a pop!

i was looking to replace my tires last summer and read about khumo LX platinums which are supposed to have crazy amount of tread. i ended up buying some other tires off craigslist for cheap though.

My OEM tires wore out around 26-28K miles (in fact were pretty much past due for a change). I finally got new ones as listed in my signature below, Falken ZX512 I believe they're called. I'm on my 3rd set of tires, 2nd set of the Falkens. The first ones wore out in 30K miles, quite noisy and had feathering issues (uneven wear causing rumbling type noise at all speeds). I thought it was due to misalignment from the start, despite having them rotated every 6k miles and having an alignment done at least twice.

I for some foolish reason bought the same Falkens a 2nd time, @ barely 59-60K miles, and this time made sure everything was aligned right. Even tried to have them rotated @ 3000-4500 miles instead of 6k. Unfortunately just past 3-4K miles they were becoming noticeable louder, and the dealer said they see feathering around the outter and inner tread area again... So at this point I am skeptical of any tires after paying $800-$900 twice now for the same results... After a bit of googling, it would seem that most single direction tread performance tires will eventually have this wear issue I've experienced, possibly since they cannot be swapped around to the other side of the car, only front and back.

I will give my tires another few thousand miles and will be on the lookout much like you for something better.
