Here's the situation, belts started squealing one day randomly, and when I popped my hood to find out the reason, I found out one of my pulleys wasn't moving and just causing one of my belts to start burning rubber.

So my question is: does anyone know the purpose of this pulley (circled in red below)? this pulley was the one that seemed seized and didn't want to move. Anyone have any recommendations on what to do, or even how to remove this pulley?

thanks in advance

Looks like the pulley that you adjust to apply tension on the belt.

You should be able to remove it by undoing that nut in the center.
I'm not familiar with SRs, but that looks really similar to the KA's pulley, which is located lower on the engine.

You can probably replace it with a KA pulley from a junkyard.

I've never seen anyone with AC run the idler pulley on their SR swap. I don't currently have AC on my motor, i hope it isn't needed, bc i plan on hooking my AC up next month. If it is, i guess i better start looking for one. Adrian, i thought you didn't run AC?

What Hijacker said. I'm sure you can find a replacement and a junkyard like Razi said.

I gotcha now. You never hooked up the A/C, but you also left the compressor on the motor. Yeah, just remove the A/C belt. Keep the pulley though, that way if you ever decide to finish the A/C install, you have it for reference to find a compatible one in the junkyard (if there is a compatible one) I think it's there to lessen vibrations/fatigue on the belt when the compressor cuts on since it's not a constant load like the PS, H20, & Alt. I did find some who run A/C that didn't have it, probably have to change the belt more often though.

Edit: Nvm, I just looked at my A/C stuff from the swap and the box with my compressor and bracket has the idler pulley on the bracket.
