Alright, so I'm very new to engine work. I've got my '92 240SX with a KA24DE in it. The skinny of my issue is we thought the engine was hydro locked. Removing all the spark plugs didn't allow the engine to turn over or us to manually rotate the crank at all, so we reevaluated, and are beginning to believe that the timing chain may have gone out, or something similar. My biggest issue is that I don't know if this really is my issue, and I'm unsure really how to troubleshoot what the actual issue is. I did go through and search, and I found the info on replacing the timing chain, but I didn't see anything on troubleshooting this issue. Anything that anyone can think of, even if it is just pointing me to a thread I missed, would be absolutely awesome.

Thanks

I'd say the best thing for you to do at this point is just tear into it man.

Being new to engine work (In my opinion ) the best way to learn is hands on. Pull the valve cover n if there isn't anything obvious you can pull the head n see what kinda condition your pistons/ valves are in.
If you did have a timing chain issue you might find some bent/ broken valves n scarred up pistons.

Sorry a negative experience (depending on how you look at it) is what brought you to Nico, but WELCOME TO NICO, anyway.

Hopefully we can help out.

I got what you're saying. As soon as I get a chance, I'll be delving in and probably coming back if I reach a spot I'm totally stumped. I really do appreciate the quick response!

And the only real negative part about it is that it's currently my wife's and my only vehicle. Other than that, the opportunity to learn is something quite positive!
