Well, first I would like to thank Dan (240sx2nr95) for sending me to Mike @ Rev Auto so I could get this hood. I researched for a while for a good cf hood with vents to help out temps in my oven of an engine bay. When I was looking I couldnt find a good pic of this hood so if anyone is interested here are some pics...

Ok now as you can see the second vent toward the windshield has me worried about water. I built a small gutter type thing to direct water away from the center of the engine, so no water gets on the spark plugs.

But I still dont feel comfortable with any of the electronics on either side getting wet. Right now I have some black duct tape covering it because of all the rain tonight. Anyone have ideas for how I can fix this??? Thanks!

I was contemplating getting one of those hoods to replace my stock hood with the oh so lovely peeling clearcoat. can you get some pics that show more of the car too? so far it looks like the vents are pretty subtle, which is good.thanks!

I wouldn't worry so much about the electronics there are seals on the connectors. Spark plugs are the least of your worries. What really worries me is the water dripping onto the exhaust manifold while hot and causing it to crack. I guess more people who have run vented hoods like these need to chime in here.

i may be wrong but it looks likt the second vent *might* clear the manifold... if it does not. yea, I would be worried abotu water drippage there... other than that and the air filter, I would be worried about anything else.

You and Ligouri are both right, it runs right over the exhaust...over the same area as my strut bar. Looking carefully through that mesh stuff you can see the exhaust housing on the turbo...well before I put that alum. gutter on.

The gutter I made directs most of the water to the other side of the car. As far as the air filter and everything else, i ran a waterhose right over both vents to test and none of that got wet. Thanks guys for the suggestions tho, I really didnt think about the manifold being my bigger prob...thats the last thing I want to deal with breaking.

I definitely wouldn't run your car hard when it's raining if the vent is over your turbo. If it gets really hot and then cold water splashes on it, it's liable to crack.

Good-looking engine bay, and I love the hood.

Think I might go with the vented on my 'vert - What's this rain thing you speak of?

It's a wet substance that falls from the sky and causes a "less than desirable" open top driving condition.

Hey but at least it's not 115'F here everyday!!

I like that hood. I have been looking for a subtle vented hood. Too bad about the location of the vent!

Great looking hood! Those vents should lower the temps substantially I would think.

Thanks for the comments everybody. Yea the hood is very low profile, if I painted that chickenwire stuff black it would be even more subtle. Looking right in front of the car you barely notice either vent, it flows well with the original lines of the hood. I dont know how much the stock hood weighs, but this 15lbs feels very light in comparison also.

Yesterday it rained all day and things held up well. The most notable difference was when I shut the car off after a good hour drive and didnt hear the clicking sound of metal cooling off. And with all that cool air the car definately pulls better...heat soak was killing me.

I'm sold - I have removed my wipers, wiper motor, washers, etc, and my car never sees rain, so I'm all over this.

I'll throw a floormat over the vent when I wash it. Keeping heat outta the engine bay is imperative here.

That's got nice lines to it.

Rain is a tool of the devil, designed to destroy meticulous car washes and help brake dust stick to alloy wheels.

hehe sounds good! Thats the main reason why I got it, every time I popped the hood it just felt wayy too hot. Oh and the hoodliner above the turbo started to change colors and fall apart when touched. But yea....if you dont have to deal with rain then you have no worries. As for me, Im keeping a roll of black tape with me to cover things up if I have to deal with lots of water.

I forgot to mention, as for fitment...everything lined up well, only problem was the hole for the hood prop. It was just a little too small so I had to file a little bit off so the prop wouldnt hang.

I had to do the same thing on my Seibon.

My only gripe? I want one with NO WINDSHIELD SQUIRTER HOLES!

i would totally not worry about it. the chances of somthing bad happening in the rain due to a couple of 1" slots is like so totally minimal that you shouldnt even bother with it. the best thing i can compare to this is that i run my hood stacked up with lugnuts on the hinges (higher than most people do) and no front grill and no fender lining in pouring rain, engine bay gets dirty as hell so you know stuff is getting in there, nothing ever happens.

damn, it doesn't looka as cool as i thought. probably won't look right on a zenki at all. it needs more of a smoother curved vent than the squared of edges like that.

Thats what i did when I got my hood, took all the wipers and wiper motors/hoses etc.

NO need to cover the vent as long as the vent is at teh right spot where the water goes between the radiator and the fan. Ive washed my car for almost a year now with my hood vent not covered.
