I visited a garage today to pick up some parts, the guy there lathe and mill custom parts for me.He showed me his latest car, built in two months just for some fun at the tracks and night drag´s.

The car is a Volvo 242 with 5-cyl engine and M3 gearbox, around 450hp.The fun thing is that he moved back the engine a bit, half way through the firewall leaving a big gap between engine and coolers. The reason for this is weight distribution and he now got 50/50 between front and rear.Combined with a real suspension and light weight = a killer.

To my question. Ever seen this on a Nissan? I will start measuring the S13 soon to see if it´s possible without moving pedals and stuff.

This guy went a bit further ->

yeah, definitely a lot. The car was actually out here in Southern California Autobacs a few years back out on display. From what I heard from the owner, if this car was to be priced as far as parts and labor are concerned, it would be well over $100k... which is crazy considering this car when produced by Nissan was priced under $15k back in 95-96.

btw, if you're wondering, the radiator is in the trunk, LOL

Puuh, that´s a lot of cash. Is there any go, or just show?

I´ve visited Autobacs in the LA area, don´t know the city name but it was huge, never seen a store like that before. They had every single p0rn part on display.

haha yeah, too bad theyre waaaay overpriced. its in the city of Stanton, lol, which is literally down the street from where I work. The staff there basically knows me cuz I loiter there so much during my lunch breaks. I go sometimes on my breaks just watch all the JDM videos they have on display, but if I buy an air freshner every once in a while, I'm considered a real customer instead of a loiter LOL. Next time you go, test out and play with all the horns, the workers there love it.

They took my camera away, I took a few pics just because it´s a cool place...Damn nazi guys, I refused to buy the Greddy catch can because of that.Went to SP and got it both cheaper and with a tour around the shop, loved that place.

i sat in it and talked to the builder (as much as i could, very japanese), but the weld guys were extremely knowledgable. car was sick, and yes, radiator is in the trunk.

i wrote a thread on it a few months after sema a few years ago. search for best 240 ever or something like that under archives with me as the author.

Friend of mine built an LS1 with a T56 transmission and mounted the motor completely behind the front axle on an 86 BMW 318i. The car only weighs about 1800 lbs and is damn near close to 50/50.
