Me and my lady are driving in Vancouver, Wa down 117th and I see what I think is a 240sx coupe with r32 tailights done in the back. As I drive closer I see what looks like some kind of widebody kit. I followed the guy into the fred meyers parking lot and had a hard time keeping up in my dads 93 4dr blazer, it has a little get up (4.3 vortec). He parked and I got out to talk to him but before I could say hey my attension was on the dark blue r32. He said it was a 91 gts-t. Right then I asked would he pop the hood. He said yeah no problem and there was the rb20 resting there with only a air filter and exhaust done to it so I got a pretty good idea what the rb size was in perportion to the ka24de. He said to get it where it is now he spent about 15 grand. I asked was it legal and he said him and a good buddy did it themselves...(???) When we went our seperate ways he drove off and I heard the deep growl of the rb (Im sold). This made my day guys. I just posted another thread about the possibilites of swaping rb heads and this was a good learning experiance. The guy said from what he thinks all the rb heads are interchangable, is this true??? I asked him about someone who makes intake manifolds for the rb20 so that it doesnt go over the top and he said if I wanted I could use one from a GTR, that all are built somewhat the same and alot of pats are interchangable and bolt up with each other. Can someone verify this? I want an engine with awesome torque and equal horsepower for power throughout the power band (assuming I have the right turbo). At first I was leaning toward the KA-T but when I realized that the rb20 was a diamond in the rough (also) and wouldnt add the weight of the rb25, my focus is more on the the rb. (Now I need more knowledge on the matter) ANYone with good input and experiance would be greatly appreciated.

personally i like the rb20 very much, but am leaning towards a ca18. check out the rb forums under the skyline section, they can answer your questions.

i think i'm going down to oregon in a while i'll have to keep my eye out when i pass through vancouver. pretty cool seeing skylines upclose, once i saw a r34 driving by.

Rb20 intake manifold yes. Wasibi has a DiY kit to make a regular intakemanifold. GTR to RB20 won't work very well at all. The ports on the GTR are way bigger vs the RB25 and RB20. RB25 greddy intake manifold won't work either because it won't match up and th RB25 ports are bigger than the RB20 ports. RIPS makes a good manifold for the RB20 if you don't want to DIY. That guys R32 is slow, It's a heavy car with a underpowered motor. In a 240 it's not so bad since it's not as heavy. If you have money go for the bigger RB25 but if not the RB20 is still fun loves to rev comes to mind.

Thanks for the info Yellow4g63. What are the redlines for both the rb20 and rb25. Im really leaning toward the rb20 because its a WHOLE lot cheaper than the rb25 (almost by freakin half!) and if I get one Ill probly end up stroking it. (why not?)

7500 for RB20 and not sure about the RB25 I think maybe 7100 or 7000. If you use the Stock RB20 Tach in the 240 it will look like it's reving to 8k but it's off by a lil bit when the revs get that high. Not sure why it dose that tho. Ignore the phaser burn and you can see the RB tach in the 240 cluster, you have to trim it to make it fit.

Say if I end up stroking the rb20 out to say 2.2 how much would that effect the max rpm? What about if it went to 2.4? Getting it to 2.2 is really simple, from what Ive read all you need to do is bore it out to ???. That guy MEGALLA has an awesome site! Check it out.

the 2.2 I think is with the RB25 crank.. I forget. When I get a better job I'm going to go for the 2.4. I guess if you get a N1 oil pump in there you could prob rev to 9k or a Jun pump. The 2.4 build up is expensive and might not be worth it.... but I guess I'll have to learn the hard way.
