Ok Guys, A 95 j30 148,000 mi's transmission gone through with shift corrections kit, new timing conponents including belt, new water pump, new spark plugs NGK. for A 210 HP V6 with the transmission working fantastic on shift points and no code problems, she's a dog ! I'm used to 280zx's which I have built a few. Tell me I'm wrong and why. Fuel milage varies up and down drastically, from 15 to 20, want's to down shift on a small grade due to lack of power. I'm at 7600 ft elevation.I'm starting to think cat's are plugging ? Any clues ? There are some very bright J owners on this forum and i'm very confident that some one has a clue ! I am a mechanic and have done all the work on this old girl so far , Am I expecting to much from this " J "

I'm not sure where you're getting @ here, but from what I've read on these forums, the J was never designed to be a "luxury performance" sedan; just a luxury touring sedan. Gas mileage was never great on the J; IMO, it's because of the weight (over 3,500 lbs).

However, even as I'm working on my baby (my '07 Civic LX), I'm doing extensive research for the J30 community by finding out as much info as I can & what type of mods (if any) will work with this car. When I finish, I will post the results. My research will include engine buildup & beefing up the transmission.

Check the ecu codes for a knock sensor issue. It will make it run like a Dawg and kill the MPG.Also it WILL NOT illuminate the Check engine light.

Ever pulled the plenum, replaced various possibly cracked vacuum hoses, cleaned the AAC/IAC valve, cleaned the MAF and the EGR tubes, replaced both PCV valves and O2 sensors, and checked/adjusted the TPS output voltage and idle speed?
