Hello every one, I am seeking this forum’s advice on wheather to purchase a new or used 350z. I will be operating this vehicle in New England East Coast. I have gotten pre approved for nmac car loan. I have had the opportunity to test drive (3) 350z. My main question is should I buy new or used steel. My wife would like a roadster but I can’t afford a new one. So I am looking to become a member of club please help out with your knowledge wisdom.

Welcome to Nico!depends on you and your use of the car, if you want something you can tweak and tune I say buy used, early or high miles, most aftermarket mods will void your warranty and if your not gonna be able to use the warranty no point paying for it!

if however you want a perfect car you can pollish every weekend then new woud be the obvious choice

if however you are wanting a daily driver or cumuter then maybe 1 or 2 years old would be a good compromise, ballance of warranty and someone else took part of the depreciation, might have a scratch or 2 but they all do in time

If you can I say go for the 07...If you are like me I enjoy ridding my redline.. Older Z's have a redline of 7000 the 07's go until 7,500. plus if you are not going to do any mofications then a new one would be ideal. if you dont mind getting an 06 you can find a great deal on one especially if you are looking for a convertible.. one quote I got was for $27K for an enthusiast automatic roadster (a new 06)

happy shopping!

I'm a big fan of buying lightly used niche vehicles. I've bought 2 lightly used MR2s and 2 weeks ago a 2004 Z with only 15k on it. If you do the research, you can find a Z out there that is showroom condition like the one I just found.

Zs and the previously mentioned MR2s are aimed at a specific market segment. As the phrase goes, when the baby comes, the sports car goes. So there is always a pretty good selection of cars like ours because people buy the car of their dreams and find out it won't fit their lifestyle.

My rule is I don't care how old the car is (if it has the features I want), I just want the mileage around 15k. Stay that young and you avoid things like rust and a lot of rock chips. Look for paint over spray in the door jams and behind the grille. Stay with a classic nameplate like a Z, and you can have a used car that looks like it's brand new. Premium sports cars like the Z retain basic body styles for quite awhile. That means you can buy an '07 or an '04 like mine and drive it for quite awhile without the design looking dated.

So many American autos change their design every 4 years now. You can feel like your brand new or lightly used car is old only a year after you buy it. The Z is premium quality and an incredible engineered car. They don't need to change their lineup 'cause they do it right the first time. Look at the basic lines of a Porshe 911.

That's my 2 cents worth.

Good Luck!MJ

I'd say go with a new one. The resale on a Z is so high here in SC that for just a few thousand more than what people and dealers were wanting for 03-04 models, I got a brand new one. It's a base model, but, at least it is brand new and I know it hasn't and won't be abused. Besides, I plan to keep this car for a very very long time. I guess it just depends on what you want to do with the car and what is important to you. just remeber, the '07 models have alot of upgrades compared to previous years.

Go new if able as too many used cars have been abused. Better financing on new too. Good luck.

I'd say go for a new one if your wallet can afford it. The resale for a used one in excellent condition and well cared for (think not abused) is fairly high considering the cost of a new one. If you want to come out to Las Vegas I can get you a great deal on a new 350Z.

if you can get me a Nismo 350Z for a good price, I will drive down there and trade in my 07 Touring.............Go NEW the only thing bad other than price w/ getting a new one is the breakin period

I don't know about that model--in fact I haven't even seen one in a showroom here! You have a great car now anyway.

If you go with used, look for a car with under 10k miles. Also, don't limit your search to only the 350z...a G35 is very similar with a rear seat. Of course, it's a matter of preference, but it was easier to convince my better half on a car with child carrying capabilities...
