Greetings to all after long silence.

After much consideration, I am selling our 1992 Q45. It has an engine knock that is either wrist pin or rod related. The active ride components are functional, but the two rear struts seep. Also, the nitrogen charge has leaked away.

The right rear door is creased, but I have a perfect door from a 1993 in my barn. The car has been in Texas until Feb. of 2002. Has been in storage since August.

I will either part out the car or sell it whole. I don't have the money to fix both the suspension and the engine.

My thanks to the folks on NICO who have given me encouragement and insight on the workings of a Q. I have a lifetime membership and intend to lurk once in a while. Maybe I can find a first gen Q next year to play with. I sure know what to look for when I start shopping!!!!

Sorry to hear Joe. Sometimes the one you know is better than the one that might be. Maybe you can make a deal with Dan (forecast) before his baby arrives since he has been inside the engine. TexasOil should be able to help on the accumulators.

Good luck and come back soon.

Thanks for the reply. I pondered your same ideas over several months. I even thought of a first gen without active and keep this one as a giant parts source! However, I cannot justify a project car in the drive and the wife wants a vehicle. The 1991 Olds winter beater she has been driving is ready for the salvage yard.

Joe;An alternate solution. You know I dont live real far from you and have a Q engine in great shape FS?

See BST.Conditions are negotiable, despite the rock bottom price.

Fred - What else do you have left? I also need to change out the suspension. I have no desire to tackle leaking hydraulic actuators. I know Texasoil can fix the nitrogen problem, but that still leaves the leaks. I haven't seen any way to rebuild the hydraulic units themselves. I cannot justify spending a lot of money on the Q when I can get a good car or mini van for my wife with the same money. I figure a minimum of $3K to fix both items. Only way out would be a wrecked standard suspension 1st gen Q that I would buy complete and start ripping in.

All of my mountign hardware is intact as are srpings and shocks.Otehr memebrs have inquired about them but I discouraged them cuz they were all far enough that shipping would be a factor and these untits areb all 2 years old.If shipping is a non issue due to your relative proximity then it's different.

Wow - THAT would be so cool - Fred's engine and suspension bits on a former "active" Q and Joe gets to keep the beast alive... :D
