I'm having trouble deciding between the 2. Any input?

In my opinion, hatch wins pretty much hands down.

It's a little shorter front to back, which means it can fit in smaller parking spots than the sedan (though only minutely smaller). Easier to find the rear of the car looking behind you because it's almost right where the glass ends.

The sedan has a shorter (height), longer (front to back) area, with the solid lid which prevents vertical expansion of the cargo area. The HB, while having a shorter (front to back) area, also has a much taller (height) area, and the package shelf is easily removed for tall items. See the article on the nissanversa.org homepage about tire stuffing a Versa, that alone illustrates this huge difference between the two models quite nicely.

I think the HB looks a lot better than the sedan. I'm kind of annoyed that the HB is not available in sandstone (great for blending in and hiding dirt) or sonoma sunset (I like darker reds, not fire engine reds like Red Alert).

Since the models offer the same features (minus the obvious cargo area differences illustrated in the homepage article), this is pretty much a question of your personal tastes.

Edit: As a side note, I'm not the only person apparently that thinks this way. Nissan had originally planned to make 60% of all Versas in the sedan body, with the remaining 40% as hatchbacks. When the HB was released and the demand was roughly double what Nissan expected, they reversed the production numbers, making 60% hatchbacks.

yea i would agree pretty much with eveer victorious, for the most part its a personal opinion and i do think as well that the hatchback is a lot better looking. I think that the back of the sedan is just to plain and looks like an old hyundai, not that hyundais are bad cars, its just that looks wise the hatchback definitely looks better. Go ahead and choose what you wish but i definitely recommend the hatchback.

I also never even considered the sedan.

I personally dislike sedans for all the same reasons posted already, but my top two reasons to pick the Hatchback were looks and versatility.

I went with the HB for the following reasons:1) I thought the sedan just looked tiny.2) I liked the rear windshield wiper.3) I like the versatility of the hatchback-for moving, or carrying cargo.

if the only car you have to count on is the versa then yes get a hatch its more VERSAtile but if all you need is a car to get around the sedan does a job good enough for me. its all a personal taste what you like best and want to spend on is what you should get

If you really can't figure out which one to get, take the one the dealership is willing to make a better deal with. The hatch is a little easier to get things in and out of than a sedan, but it's cargo is not as deep but taller. Or get the one that has the options you want. Then tell the dealer you really want the other style with the same options but you'll compromise if they give you a good deal.

Hatchback... hands down. More rear headroom, more cargo space, and looks better. The Versa is about practicality and the hatch is more practical and a better value in all regards.

The sedan would only be better a good consideration if it was significantly lighter, cheaper, or looker more sporty.

Sorry.. I know that 99% of the people that are on this forum own a hatchback but the Sedan is actually the way to go. Most people on here probably didn't even have the option to buy the sedan because it hasn't been out very long. The Sedan only has 4 cu ft less cargo room than the hatchback (with it's seats folded down)so it can hold just about anything the hatchback can and is just as VERSAtile. Then sedan is better looking IMO. Oh well I shouldn't waste too much time on this because everyone is going to disagree because they have a HB... oh well, for what it is worth I had the choice of both and I chose the sedan.

Hatchbacks are so great. It really makes your car more unique. There are too many sedans out there, but hey, whatever floats your boat. My parents (who bought the car) practically yelled at the dealer for suggesting the sedan model. The hatchback looks so much better, and it automatically comes with these things so you can't see what's in there. I say go for the HB

I sold a coupe cavy and went hatchback 1) change things up2) 50 cubic feet of storage with seats down, no way sedan comes close Ill be moving again in a few years, and this willl make it much easier than the cavalier3)bigger rear doors(starting a family soon thought this would be easier for car seats)4) Availability (I only had to wait a day and got everything i wanted except color)5) theres only about 5 or 6 vehicles that look like a hatch, as opposed to the sedan.6) The tire stacking photo7) the number of coolers I think i can fit still have yet to test8) comes in handy when im taking my fiancee to and from college for the year

it's interesting to see that most think the hatch actually looks better. i kinda liked the look of the sedan a bit more but it reminds me of the toyota echo :s

That's the main problem with the sedan for me. It looks like any other run of the mill entry level sedan out there. Nothing makes it stand out or differentiates it from the rest of the pack. I wish they never bothered with making it.

The hatchback just looks more stylish to me and differentiates itself from other vehicles more than the sedan does.

From a functionality perspective the ability to put down the rear seats and carry a long load is a big advantage.

HB all the way.

There's a blueberry sedan one street over, and I must say, it just doesn't have the same visual zing as my blueberry HB. Besides which, I like the versatility of the hatchback. I feel as if I have a little bit of a trunk, even with the flip-floppy non hat shelf, and I have more flexibility in hauling junk around.

I looked at the sedan pictures when deciding whether or not to buy a Versa. If the sedan were available, I would have given it a pass.

I know that styling is a subjective thing and that no one can be right or wrong, but....

The sedan looks as if the design drawing project got handed over to a summer intern after the front-end design was finished by a pro.

Either that, the pro who started designing the sedan starting from the front end got laid off shortly before he got to the A-pillar.

Sorry sedan fans.
