In my opinion, hatch wins pretty much hands down.
It's a little shorter front to back, which means it can fit in smaller parking spots than the sedan (though only minutely smaller). Easier to find the rear of the car looking behind you because it's almost right where the glass ends.
The sedan has a shorter (height), longer (front to back) area, with the solid lid which prevents vertical expansion of the cargo area. The HB, while having a shorter (front to back) area, also has a much taller (height) area, and the package shelf is easily removed for tall items. See the article on the nissanversa.org homepage about tire stuffing a Versa, that alone illustrates this huge difference between the two models quite nicely.
I think the HB looks a lot better than the sedan. I'm kind of annoyed that the HB is not available in sandstone (great for blending in and hiding dirt) or sonoma sunset (I like darker reds, not fire engine reds like Red Alert).
Since the models offer the same features (minus the obvious cargo area differences illustrated in the homepage article), this is pretty much a question of your personal tastes.
Edit: As a side note, I'm not the only person apparently that thinks this way. Nissan had originally planned to make 60% of all Versas in the sedan body, with the remaining 40% as hatchbacks. When the HB was released and the demand was roughly double what Nissan expected, they reversed the production numbers, making 60% hatchbacks.
