Security System

I bought my car 1 1/2 weeks ago and I added the dealer security system option, which I guess is supposed to install engine kill, shock sensors, and an alarm. It also comes with a guarantee for 2 years so that if the car ever gets stolen and is not recovered in 30 days or deemed a total loss, they will pay up to $20K towards your replacement car. I paid 895 for this, which they said was at cost but that's still pretty expensive. Right now, i have an appointment set to install this next week, but I can probably still cancel it if I wanted.

Anyway, from what I heard, the ignition kill and alarm is already installed in the car, it's just disabled. I think the people who install the security system do something really simple to enable it in your car.

Has anyone installed a security system on their G37 that wasn't from the dealer? I prefer to have one that integrates with the factory key.

The G37 comes with a very good factory security system. It does not, however include motion or glass breakage sensors. They surely cant drive it away without the key but towing is always an option.

Man, I should probably go get a refund for this too then. Haha, I kinda feel bad since I went there last time to get a couple other dealer options refunded...but it is my money, so screw it.
